Over the past couple of years, a new form of marijuana has appeared on the market called marijuana “wax”, and it is quite possibly the highest you could ever get from weed. It’s otherwise known as BHO, which stands for Butane hash oil.
It gets its names from the ways it is prepared and the way it looks. The substance looks like a thick, oily substance or a little like honey. Butane is used in the process of making it (not such a kitchen friendly process) which is why it is otherwise known as BHO.
How is it made?
Before explaining the process by which this powerful form of marijuana is made, it is highly recommended that you don’t attempt it unless you really know what you’re doing.
The buds of marijuana are packed really tightly into a tube and then blasted with butane, which is a highly flammable liquid. The process of doing this extracts the THC from the marijuana in a really concentrated form. What comes out is a thick, hard, wax-like substance that is highly hallucinagenic.
Basically, the reason that this is really dangerous is not just for the reasing that you are combusting something really flammable. There have been victims of the wax explosion in the process of making it, and is a lot like the process used to make meth or cocaine. It’s vapors can fill up a room if it isn’t fumigated properly or you aren’t well enough prepared, and the fumes are a health hazard, too. So please don’t try this at home!
How is it used?
There are two ways to smoke marijuana wax. One is in a bong and the other is in a vaporiser. Some people put dabs in their joint, but it’s more common to smoke it solo. A blow torch or a hot stoker is used to burn the dab in the bong, and the vaporizer naturally turns your concentrated wax into a lung full of pure THC.
Prices, effects and more
In California, for example, a gram of wax can be anywhere between $70 – $100, compared to $15 for a gram of flowery buds. However, be warned, the effects of wax are powerful and smoking a gram of wax would take much longer than smoking a gram of bud.
It is highly hallucinogenic compared to smoking bud. The effects are felt almost instantly when it’s dabbed and those who smoke this way report having far more intense visions and far more intense physical effects. It’s a popular way to smoke these days because you don’t need much of it at all to get really high.
It also has a far stronger taste than smoking marijuana buds!
Is it dangerous?
If it is made properly, then all of the butane should be filtered out of the marijuana during the explosion process. However, if it is made poorly, then traces of the butane can still be found in the wax. Obviously, inhaling that into your lungs is probably not going to be healthy.
Some dispensaries in the USA do carry marijuana wax, but given the health risks if it is not performed correctly, it is probably best coming from a regulation point of view. This is especially true if the person is using butane for medical purposes.
Using wax is probably the highest you will ever get. Even higher than the first time you smoked weed. But don’t try to make it at home unless you really know how to do it, and be careful from whom you get it!
