OK guys, deep breath. The wait is finally over. Games of Thrones season 6 kicks off tonight at 9 p.m. ET, on HBO. To mark this most anticipated occasion, we’ve decided to pay homage to Daenerys Targaryen’s 3 dragons; Drogon (the largest and most aggressive of the dragons, named after Khal Drogo, black with red markings), Rhaegal (named after Rhaegar Targaryen, green with bronze markings), and Viserion (named after Viserys Targaryen, creamy white, with gold markings).
1. Dragon Lady
Dragon Lady is a popular strain among those who have tried it, but there aren’t all that many of them. It’s a combo of Blue Dragon and Flo, both sativa-indica hybrids, though the exact ratio in this indica-dominant hybrid is unknown.
Despite the name, THC levels are lower than in most other legal market strains, but the high is relatively long-lasting, and it promotes creativity. Exact THC numbers are unknown, though Flo reaches top THC levels of just 14%. Dragon Lady has a strong plant aroma, with notes of musk and spice. It tastes earthy, sweet, and fresh. The high is relaxing, fueled by the plant’s
The high is relaxing, fueled by the plant’s indica genes, but also slightly cerebral. Expect a mood boost and a mild feeling of euphoria. Dragon Lady is best used for depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic pain. Its calming effects can also be helpful with problems falling asleep. The sativa genes, meanwhile, provide a pleasant cerebral effect that clears the mind. Possible adverse effects include dry mouth and dry eyes while other problems are rarer. Dragon Lady can be found in California, though few dispensaries stock it.
2. Green Dragon
Green Dragon is a cross of two indicas, Afghani, and Turkish Gummy. Bred by Master Thai, these timeless buds are striking in appearance, aroma, and effects. Green Dragon is commonly depended on for pain management, providing a lift often described as colorful. Suitable for any growing environment, a heavy yield can be expected to flower at around 50 days. Its effects are described as hungry, euphoric, and happy with flavor notes of Sweet and Pine.
3. Purple Dragon
Purple Dragon is not your average indica. This cross between Purple Urkle and Blue Dragon is more stimulating than other indicas, providing users with a cerebral and energizing experience upon first taste. While initially uplifting, Purple Dragon shows its full range of effects over time. Relaxing muscles and relieving pain, this strain provides a gentle and effective body buzz.
Purple Dragon’s unique effects are complemented by its smooth aroma. Like other purples, this strain features a musky scent and floral taste. This is a must-try strain for those looking for a truly different cannabis experience. People have noted that they do tend to get dry mouth when smoking it, though.
4. Dutch Dragon
Dutch Dragon is a sativa variety bred by Paradise Seeds. She loves warmer climates and can grow as high as 9 feet tall outside so make sure you have ample vertical room. This strain has some super positives with users noting a feeling of having lots of energy, feelings very happy and uplifted with a creative burst. This is a strain that I see being used in conjunction with anyone who may suffer from depression. It doesn’t hurt that it has a nice refreshing citrus-tropical note.
5. Red Dragon
Red Dragon is one exotic flower. A Barney’s Farm cross between a West Himalayan Kush and Utopia Haze (a Brazilian sativa), this hybrid is a strain for connoisseurs. Featuring a sweet, fruity aroma, Red Dragon offers consumers a truly different cannabis experience. Slightly sativa-dominant, this strain is giggly and upbeat.
Great for those suffering from depression or stress, Red Dragon has a very happy and uplifting effect. Unfortunately, this strain may cause some to feel quite paranoid. If you’re prone to anxiety, Red Dragon may not be the best strain for you. This hybrid grows best indoors and has a flowering time of 8-10 weeks. The flavor note here is a nice sweet berry.
6. Blue Dragon
Blue Dragon is usually so dark purple that it looks black. Some people also call it Black Dragon for that reason. This weed has aromatic hints of fruity pebbles and grapes. Despite is dark color this strain like Dutch Dragon is full of happiness and helps with being uplifted and creative. Great for stress relief and/or depression.
7. Dragon Ball orbs
For an added bonus we have added the Dragon Ball orbs from X-Tracted Labs, that look like something a wizard out of middle earth might have on the end of his magical staff. Their liquid gold appearance alone is enough to satisfy the senses, but the real magic behind these orbs is in their aroma and flavor.
They can be dabbed or vaped depending on your preference. Drawing your first breath of the XJ, the vapor is mild and sweet with fruity notes that fully awaken on the exhale. Smooth and even vapor exit your lungs, leaving the gift of mellow euphoria, light relaxation, and creative stimulation without a headache or stomach ache.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, here’s the first trailer for GoT. What would be great is smoking this list while watching the new series. Come at me, Game of Thrones.
Are you as amped as we are for the new series? Have you enjoyed any of these dragon strains? Let us know your thoughts on social media or in the comments below.
