Cannabis is one of the wonderful treasures of nature, beloved by all those who have had the pleasure of enjoying its’ mind-elevating properties. There are so many reasons to love cannabis: it aids in creativity, helps heal the sick and could even provide financial security to states in desperate need of extra cash flow. Here’s 13 reasons weed is the greatest thing ever.
1. Potent products
Cannabis is more potent now than it has ever been before. With advances in cultivation, growers are able to create strains with high THC concentrations. In 1972, the average strain contained only about 1-3% THC. Today, average cannabis comes in around 13% THC.
2. The Swiss do everything better
A new study from Switzerland takes a closer look at how cannabis can help inmates deal with the struggles of life in prison. Scientists discovered cannabis helps to keep prisoners calm and less combative during their incarceration.
3. Drunken stupor
It’s been said that cannabis is a gateway drug, and will lead users to try harder substances, like cocaine or heroin. While enthusiasts have always known this is false propaganda, a new survey of high school students revealed 54% of the teens were drinking on a regular basis, while only 14% had even tried cannabis.
4. Alleviate angst
THC and other cannabinoids have been shown to improve mental health, and combat feelings of depression, loneliness, and anxiety. A puff a day keeps the blues away!
5. Finally, feds
The government has finally agreed to allow studies on the effects of cannabis on patients suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The endocannabinoid system has been proving to help relieve common symptoms associate with PTSD, like restlessness, high stress, and extreme anxiety.
6. Curing diseases
Cannabis has been shown to treat Parkinson’s Disease, providing a significant improvement in sleep and pain management. While more studies have been planned, cannabis is proving its importance in the medical field more and more every day.
7. Tax revenue
Legalized cannabis is grossing millions of dollars in taxes for states like Colorado and Washington, which allow for medical and recreational use. The entire country could be benefiting from these additional funds if only they’d legalize on a federal level.
8. Crohn’s Disease
A new study suggests cannabis might not just be a treatment for Crohn’s Disease, it could actually be the cure. After smoking one joint a day for eight weeks, 10 of the 11 study participants discovered they were either in complete remission, or their symptoms were cut by 50%.
9. Joints for joints
Arthritis effects many people throughout the world, leaving them with achy joints and pain throughout their body. Luckily, cannabis has been proven to alleviate the inflammation that causes discomfort and pain.
10. Criminal activity
Many people associate cannabis use with criminal behavior, but they’re wrong. A new study shows there is absolutely no correlation between cannabis use and crime.
11. Teenage brainwaves
Developing minds can be influenced by many things. According to research, alcohol has a far worse impact on young brain tissue than cannabis.
12. Fake shake
Synthetic products pretending to be cannabis, like K2 or Spice, are dangerous, and sometimes even deadly, but remain legal in many places, resulting in law-abiding citizens being hurt. Stick to all-natural cannabis and don’t risk losing life or limb to catch a buzz.
13. Numbers don’t lie
More than 18 million Americans admit to smoking cannabis on a regular basis. If that many people openly admit it, just imagine how many are lying about their use. With so many people supporting the lifesaving herb, there’s no way we can all be wrong.
