This time of year friends all over the country are getting together for holiday cookie swap parties. But think how much more fun it would be if everyone were exchanging cannabis-infused cookies! The basic idea is for everyone at the party to bring a batch of their homemade cookies to share – enough give each guest at the party about six cookies. That way each person goes home with a variety of different cookies to enjoy throughout the holiday season.

Tips to make it a simple but successful event

  • Keep the guest list relatively small. Since each person should bring enough to give each of the other guests at least six cookies, keep the guest list to 10 or less, and to people who all enjoy cooking with cannabis. If everyone is marijuana rich, expand the guest list or the number of cookies each guest takes home.
  • Set some parameters and coordinate with guests so that not everyone is making the same kind of cookie. Also, let guests know how many people are expected so they know how many cookies to make.
  • Have paper, plastic wrap, bakery boxes or other packaging ready so guests can take their cookies home.
  • At the party, set out trays, platters, and tongs set for people to display and collect their cookies.
  • Serve refreshments like coffee, tea, cider, hot chocolate, and maybe even have some light sandwiches on hand.

Not sure what kind of cookies to make?  Most cookie recipes use butter in the mix, so it’s easy to swap in cannabutter instead.

Pay attention to dosing. Depending on your recipe, you may want to combine cannabutter along with some nonmedicated butter in order to achieve a proper dose.

Toffee Chocolate Chip Cookies

Buttery toffee adds an extra dimension to an already great chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Makes 26 Cookies
Serving Size: 1 Cookie

  • 6 tablespoons cannabis infused butter
  • 3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup toffee chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts or pecans, optional

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.  Grease 2 large baking sheets with vegetable shortening, or alternately line them with parchment paper.

With an electric mixer fitted with the paddle attachment cream together the canna-butter and brown and granulated sugars until well incorporated.

Add the egg, vanilla, and salt and mix until just combined. Slowly mix in the flour, baking soda, and baking powder and mix just until combined. Stir in the chocolate and toffee chips and nuts, if using, until evenly combined.

Scoop out about 2 tablespoons the press gently to form a flattened cookie. Repeat with remaining dough, placing cookies about 2 inches apart.

Bake for about 15 minutes or until lightly browned. Let set for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Baked cookies will stay fresh for about 4 days in an airtight container.

Freezer Friendly! Form dough into cookies and place on a baking sheet and freeze before baking. When frozen you can transfer the unbaked cookies to a lidded container or plastic freezer storage bag. When ready to eat, place frozen cookies on a greased or parchment lined sheet and bake at 375 degrees F for about 18 minutes or until browned.
