The Blueberry strain is one of the most beloved cannabis flowers out there. This sweet smelling bud is one of the proud parents of Blue Dream, which has been one of the most popular strains around for the past several years.

Considered an 80 percent indica hybrid, Blueberry features slow and relaxing effects. These are winning traits in today’s cannabis marketplace.

You can thank legendary breeder DJ Short for introducing the world to this fragrant and humble flower. DJ Short began working on the strain back in the 1970s, the hayday of early hybridization. The parent strains lie in Afghani, Thai, and Purple Thai landrace strains, giving this bud some seriously Old World Genetics.

In 2000, Blueberry took Best Indica at Amsterdam’s High Times Cannabis Cup, propelling this strain’s career even further. However, the samples often found at cannabis shops now may be a far cry from the original. While there is no doubt that some top-notch flowers are hitting the shelves, this strain has been around for so long that phenotypes and genetics are likely muddled.

Blueberry often features an impressive amount of THC, ranging from 15 to 24 percent. To top things off, Blueberry features a deliciously sweet berry fruit aroma. It tends to be a high-yielding plant, with flowers that feature gorgeous red, purple, and blue coloration. All in all, this strain has some excellent shelf appeal.

The Blueberry experience

The Blueberry strain is a calming and gently sedative flower. However, consumers can certainly expect some euphoria from this herb. This would be a great strain for a late afternoon or a lazy Sunday morning. Sleepy yet uplifting, it has a way of melting away daily stresses in a cloud of sweet-scented smoke.

While this flower has a bit of a cult following, it’s important to not underestimate its overall strength. Moderate cannabis consumers can get by with lower potency samples. Yet, experience with cannabis is recommended for flowers that reach over 20 percent THC.

Every once in a while, high doses of this bud can cause some paranoia. Though, it’s a benign evening treat for the most part.

Don’t be surprised if you find a goofy grin spread across your face shortly after consuming. This strain often kicks off with an upbeat, happy-go-lucky kind of high. After about a half an hour, you may find that your eyelids begin to droop and some of the blissful, euphoric sedation takes hold. While the strain might be a little on the drowsy side, it can certainly help you unwind and let out a few laughs.

There is no better strain to come home to after a long day of work. Whether you’ve been hitting the books pretty hard or you need some heavy-handed relief after a day of physical labor, this strain is an all-purpose stress reliever. Mind and body both benefit from this smooth tasting and friendly flower.

Apart from stress, medical cannabis patients often grab this strain for relief from chronic pain. Stiff, aching joints and muscles often don’t stand a chance against this exotic delight.

The Blueberry strain is also a popular pick for headache relief. While many may find that the pain might not go away immediately, cannabis does tend to have a numbing sensation and can help take your mind off of whatever ails you.
