Walking through the park you may see a rosy-cheeked boy weaving through his mother’s legs, the mother laughing and jumping out of his way. In the park, you could see a daughter bouncing on a see-saw a few feet away from her mother who’s sitting on a bench watching her with content. You may also see a mother holding her two children by the hand walking through a busy intersection.
All of these situations appear to be normal family behavior, so would it matter if any one of these mother’s were under the influence of marijuana?
Mothers stand up against societies consensus that smoking marijuana is “bad.”
It sometimes seems mothers are berated for smoking marijuana. They’re looked down upon because consuming marijuana remains a social stigma. Such judgment can stem from the idea that parents become irresponsible when they consume cannabis.
Mother’s have a different response. Many believe cannabis makes them a better mom. They feel calmer, more patient, become more optimistic, and are open to more fun activities. One parent describes all of these attributes and thanks weed for the ability to love her children even more.
Lea Grover is a mother who cherishes the benefits of marijuana. Through an article in Cosmopolitan, she tells readers “With marijuana, I have more patience. I’m slower to get angry or frustrated because I understand their frustrations. I am able to see the world through their eyes, to remember how hard it is to be a preschooler or toddler, how things that seem obvious to me aren’t yet known to them. We all have a better day.”
Flower gives Lea the chance to get to know her children better because she feels less stressed, less prone to become angry and feels comfortable doing an array of activities she wouldn’t otherwise do after a long day at work.
Another group of mother’s truly believe marijuana helps, not hurts, their interaction with their children. The Beverly Hills “Marijuana Moms” believes they are taking marijuana use to a classy level. They dine on gourmet infused cannabis meals prepared specially by their private Italian chef.
Mom Knows Best
This mom’s club fully believes the stigma surround marijuana is absurd. Cheryl Shuman, one of the Marijuana Moms, says marijuana should not have a social stigma surrounding it. “We’ve come up against people who say marijuana is for dirty druggies, but we are proof you can be good parents and productive members of society and use it.” These moms are certain consuming cannabis is the new norm and its benefits should speak for themselves.
“When I use cannabis, quite frankly, it does make me a better mom. I’m calmer, I’m more rational, I’m not angry and I’m not stressed,” Shuman concludes in an interview with Barcroft TV.
January Jones, another cannabis believer, heavily medicates with the flower and feels more at ease with her two-year-old daughter Zenna. It seems she wants her daughter to understand the benefits of the flower as a naturally grown plant when she reads her bed time stories with titles such as “Mommy’s Funny Medicine” and “It’s Just a Plant.”
