When it comes to mind-bending artists, you can find all kinds on the interwebs. Wikipedia says, “Psychedelic art is any art or visual displays inspired by psychedelic experiences and hallucinations known to follow the ingestion of psychoactive drugs such as LSD and psilocybin.”

Get to know what these visionary artists are up to and learn how they envision the world,  other dimensions, music and “conscious” communities.

1. Alex Grey

Alex Grey learned about the details of the human body through working with cadavers at the Anatomy department of Harvard Medical School. At Harvard, he studied healing energies and worked as a medical illustrator. He also had “sacred journeys” on LSD over the years and is well known for his exhibits like the “chapel of sacred mirrors” about sacred architecture. He’s probably most well known as the illustrator behind some of Tool’s album artwork.

2. Android Jones

Android Jones‘s art and video have been projected onto the UN building, the Empire State Building and The Sydney Opera House in Sydney, Australia. This “digital painter” has been to Burning Man. He’s also illustrated what a Blue Avian looks like based on descriptions provided by Corey Goode, a man who talks to aliens.

3. Phil Lewis

Phil Lewis combines pen and ink with digital design and aims “to create images that feel both organic, and state-of-the-art at the same time.” His pieces have been commissioned by Google. Check out his Coloring Book for Big Kids, which is in its 4th edition.

4. Luke Brown

Luke Brown has created artwork live on stage with DJs and electronic musicians (like members of Shpongle).  He’s been to places like the Shanti Sunset festival. Taken directly from his bio, “Luke is being dreamed up as a medium, oracle, and amplifier for a deeper process of awakening that is unfolding in the collective mind-field of our species.”
