David Schmader is out of the weed closet, and he’s damn proud of it. Marijuana has come a long way over the years, and most stoner stereotypes are disappearing and the marijuana business is booming. People are breaking out of their shell and being more open about their love for weed. Now, more than ever, is your chance to be high and proud. Check out David’s TED Talk below on why you should be proud to smoke weed.
David makes several good points in his speech, one of them being about people who currently represent weed. People like Snoop Dogg and Tommy Chong are great examples. Though we love them dearly, they have criminal history. While we shouldn’t judge people for the past, a lot of folks do anyways. Individuals love to put the blame on marijuana and automatically think anyone who smokes is a criminal.
It’s rare that we see doctors, lawyers or other such professions coming out and expressing their desires to smoke weed. This is exactly how you can help represent weed in a positive way. Some of you use it for medical purpose and some for recreational use. Either way, you don’t have to be famous to make marijuana look good.
“Stop treating your weed-based pleasures as a source of shame to be kept secret. And the rest of you, stop lazily accepting the old stoner lore.”
It’s a new day and age
Marijuana is being legalized left and right, as David mentions. Dispensaries are now available in legalized states and are continuing to open throughout the US. Many families are relying on the medical benefits that come from marijuana. Folks don’t realize the good that cannabis does and often think that individuals, medical card or not, use it just to get high. Little do they know, certain marijuana strains will not even get you high. It’s time we vanish all stereotypes and start coming out to the world. Be high and be darn proud of it!
