If you think America is the only country exploring strong infusions, you couldn’t be more wrong. In an Indian state south-east of Pakistan, you can buy a drink that literally knocks you out for 24 hours. Sound like a nightmare, or the best day of your life?  In the Thar Desert, there’s not much entertainment, besides the occasional camel ride and this drink that completely knocks you out for 24 hours. Check out the video below.

In an episode of No Reservations, a Travel Channel special, Chef Anthony Bourdain takes a trip to Rajasthan in order to better understand the hype surrounding a popular drink called Bhang Lassi.

Bhang Lassi is a government-licensed beverage sold in Bhang Shops. It’s consumed by natives during a spring holiday called Holy and comes in different variations, depending on how messed up you want to get. There is mild, medium, “super duper sexy strong” and a “24-hour, no toilet no shower” option, which Bourdain assumes knocks your lights out.

Though Bourdain hints toward massive amounts of cannabis in the drink, he is not specific on how much or if there are other ingredients. One thing is for sure, it’s definitely strong. TIME magazine rated Bhang Lassi as number five in their article “Top 10 Ridiculously Strong Drinks.” TIME describes the drink as hash mixed with “a delicious concoction of milk, sugar, spices and almonds.”

The drink isn’t the only thing Bourdain purchases. Thinking toward his future appetite, he also grabs some “fun” baked edibles, including chocolate and cookies. One company has taken this name and used it as their own. Bhang Chocolate, a California infused cannabis company, markets their products to match similarly to Rajasthan’s Bhang shops.

Out of your mind

The video ends with Bourdain walking among the streets, predicting how his day will end: a peaceful night listening to Cypress Hill by the television. However, the show ends with Bourdain curled into a fetal position in the middle of the Thar Desert looking dazed and confused with a red dot perfectly painted between both eyebrows.
