Just growing marijuana for the first or second time? Well, if you don’t know how to properly dry your marijuana and it’s nearing harvest time, you should probably start learning! Drying and curing your marijuana correctly is imperative to bringing out the greatest potential in your buds. This video from Drew Grow is a good introduction to the best way to dry and cure marijuana. It is not an overly complicated process, but it can be time-consuming to get the best results.
The idea is that doing it properly means you avoid things like mould appearing on your buds while they are drying. Plus, the curing process is important to give the buds the exact texture you’re looking for.
Drying then curing
To dry your plants, hang them upside down by the stem. This video stresses making sure they are not touching each other or anything else, to ensure they get enough air flow. The point of leaving the stem on is that they dry slowly, as the stem retains some of the moisture.
After about 5 days you can begin curing them, and this involves putting them in mason jars to release moisture from the stem into the bud and then allow it to dry out again. This is where you get to make sure your buds have the texture you’re looking for – and aren’t too dry or too moist!
