Deputies at the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office in Kentucky have discovered over 250 cannabis plants in a local corn field. The office claims that the haul is worth a whopping $600,000 and yet somehow, the owner of the plants hasn’t come forward. The odd part of this story is the #WeGotYoWeed hashtag that the Deputies came up with to try and lure out the suspect, but the real question is, will it work?
#WeGotYoWeed… but who owns the corn field?
The Grayson County Sheriff’s Office has yet to arrest a single person in this fairly mysterious case. Apparently, an anonymous tip led the police to search the field and resulted in the seizure of 254 cannabis plants. Whoever farms the corn and owns the property should be the number one suspect for the police to ask some questions.
Just like cannabis, corn is harvested and trimmed for the consumer. This leads one to believe that the only one that knows the harvesting schedule of both the corn and the cannabis is the farmer who owns the land. What kind of cannabis grower would plant seeds in a corn field that could be harvested soon? That would be quite frankly, stupid.
Something doesn’t add up
And another point, what kind of farmer doesn’t check his corn crops for disease or water shortages? For a farmer to be completely unaware of a cannabis growing operation in his or her own field, is really quite fishy. This hasn’t stopped the police from issuing a statement regarding new information about the owner of the plants and the current cannabis laws.
You know this is just a drop in the bucket. We know there’s a lot more plants out there, and people have mixed feelings about marijuana grows and whether marijuana should be legal or not. But it’s currently illegal in the state of Kentucky and we’ll continue to enforce those drug laws. -Sheriff Norman Chaffins, Grayson County
