Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) on Wednesday took to the Senate floor to lambaste President-elect Donald Trump and Congressional Republicans for their planned repeal of Obamacare, going so far as to print off a giant Trump tweet from 2015 to make his point.

Republicans have fought every year since the 2010 passage of Obamacare to get the legislation repealed.

In all, the GOP conference voted over 60 times over the course of six years to repeal the measure, each time butting up against a veto by President Obama.

The president-elect, for his part, campaigned on a promise to repeal the bill, discussing in a post-election interview his plans for the measure and that he had spoken with President Obama on the subject.

Either Obamacare will be amended, or repealed and replaced… I told [the president] I will look at his suggestions, and out of respect, I will do that.”

Interestingly, Trump pledged on Twitter during the campaign that he would not cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

The president-elect’s inconsistent statements on the matter arose the ire of Sen. Sanders, a candidate for the 2016 Democratic nomination and a darling of the Left.

Sen. Sanders called out President-elect Trump for statements that he had made in the past that appeared to contradict his newfound focus on Obamacare repeal.

Republicans listened and heard what their leader had to say about these issues. This is what Donald Trump said, and he didn’t say it once in the middle of the night. He didn’t say it in an interview. This was a central part of his campaign.”

The most eye-opening portion of Sen. Sanders’ floor speech, however, was that in which he displayed a gigantic blow-up of Donald Trump’s 2015 tweet in which Trump appeared to oppose any effort to touch Medicare, Medicaid, or Social Security.

Sanders went on to call for President-elect Trump to distance himself from Republicans in Congress that were calling for cuts to vital medical programs.

If he was sincere, then I would hope that tomorrow or maybe today he could send out a tweet and tell his Republican colleagues to stop wasting their time and all of our time. And for Mr. Trump to tell the American people that he will veto any proposal that cuts Medicare, that cuts Medicaid or that cuts Social Security.

Sen. Sanders also took to Twitter to attack Congressional Republicans’ absence of a follow-up plan for after Obamacare is repealed.
