The concept that cannabis makes people stupid and lazy is one of the longest-endearing negative – and false – stigmas of weed out there. But these six guys prove that not only can you smoke weed and be smart, you can smoke weed and be a straight-up genius.

With doctorates in astrophysics and astronomy, Sagan was always the most reliable guide us in the ways of the universe and the physical person in his amazing series, “Cosmos.”

Sagan said cannabis helped him open up, allowing him to understand the human psychology better. This helped him be more creative and more inspired in his work.

In 1969, Sagan wrote an essay exploring the many benefits and uses of herb and provides theories of how it might affect the human brain. Little did he know, years later, many of his ideas would be proven correct.

Sagan wrote the essay under the pseudonym “Mr. X” due to the penalties associated with coming out as a cannabis user.

The illegality of cannabis is outrageous, an impediment to full utilization of a drug which helps produce the serenity and insight, sensitivity and fellowship so desperately needed in this increasingly mad and dangerous world.

2. Bill Gates

Bill Gates is no doubt one of the smartest people on the planet. His software company, Microsoft, shaped how we use computers today. Plus, he’s a billionaire several times over and donates a fortune to different charities.

In 2016, Microsoft broke new ground by becoming the first major company to invest in cannabis. They teamed up with Kind Financial, a Los-Angeles based start-up founded in 2013. Kind’s mission is to make it easier for cannabis-related businesses to make safe and secure transactions, within the law.

3. Seth McFarlane

The creator of Family Guy and other stoner faves like Ted was named as one of the 50 most influential cannabis users in 2013.

His shows make numerous references to weed and how great it is, and although he has claimed he no longer partakes, theres no doubt weed helped shape McFarlane’s wicked sense of humor.

4. Rick Steves

Rick Steves is known in living rooms across the United States for his travel show, Rick Steves’ Europe. However, in his free time, Steves has another passionate pursuit: Legalizing cannabis.

Steves has been a longtime advocate of drug policy reform in the United States and has been on the board of NORML since 2003. He campaigns for a new approach to dealing with cannabis,

Well-off white guys in the suburbs can smoke pot. But the majority of the 800,000 people arrested in the USA on marijuana charges this year (and the 9,000 people arrested in Washington State) were poor and/or people of color.

There are so many reasons to end the prohibition on marijuana. Whether you’re concerned about the well-being of children, fairness for our minority communities, redirecting money away from criminals and into our state’s coffers, stemming the horrific bloodshed in Mexico, or civil liberties, it is clearly time for a new approach.

5. Steve Jobs

It’s well known that the ex-CEO of Apple regularly smoked cannabis in the seventies. Jobs says he used weed mostly for relaxation and inspiration during his career, and said that experimenting with psychedelics was one of the “two or three most important things” he ever did in his life.

The best way to describe the effects of marijuana and hashish is that makes me feel relaxed and creative.

6. Seth Green

He’s probably most famous for playing the emo son of Dr. Evil in the Austin Powers movies, and the creator of Robot Chicken, the stop-motion animation show that’s loved by stoners and non-stoners alike.

Although Seth has never actually come out as a partaker, but he’s made enough references to it in interviews. And with his stoner-humor so on point, it’s hard to imagine he wouldn’t inhale.
