Sometimes, when it comes to smuggling drugs into the United States, the would-be smugglers can get a little greedy. But, if you have a drug mule to do the dirty work, it seems such attempts will always be made.

Unfortunately for the said drug mule, his trip to the States from the Dominican Republic came to an abrupt end, not long after disembarking at New York’s JFK International Airport.

While watching the mule, one Juan Carlos Galan Luperon, walk from the plane, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers noticed that his walk was somewhat peculiar, which was a cause for concern.

Unsure if he needed to use the restroom, or if it was something more suspicious, the officers asked Mr. Luperon to “step this way” and that resulted in him having to have a chat with the authorities.

Not only did Luperon appear to be nervous, “his pants appeared to be rather snug,” said US Customs and Border Protection – basically, he looked to be “bursting out of his pants”.

It’s unsure of what went on in the room, but it’s hard not to imagine Luperon falling apart under interrogation, considering that he did have $164K worth of “yayo” under his pants.

The officers quickly discovered that the man – a citizen of the United States – had several pounds of cocaine strapped to his legs, all under his pants, which is what caused the awkward gait.

In the photo released by officials, you can see that there is so much strapped to him that it looks as if Luperon has plaster casts on each leg.

It might be hard to believe, but it wouldn’t be the last time that it would happen in the month of March, as another would-be smuggler was caught at JFK with $83K worth of cocaine strapped to his legs.

This time, it was Mayobanex Ruiz Gomez, who was found with five pounds of cocaine taped to his legs, having attempted to enter the United States from the Dominican Republic.

Now facing federal drug smuggling charges, Luperon will be prosecuted by the US Attorney’s office in New York, which, if convicted, could see him serving at least 10 years in prison. The second offender, Gomez, was arrested on federal narcotics smuggling charges and turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.

It could be that third time’s the charm, huh?
