At one point, Jim Carrey was not only the king of movie comedies, but he was also the highest-paid actor in Hollywood. These days, the comedian has taken a step back from the limelight, becoming somewhat of a recluse in Hollywood.

That change in lifestyle has seen the actor notably absent from the screen, with his last starring roles The Incredible Burt Wonderstone and Kick-Ass 2, back in back in 2013 and 2014, respectively.
His last appearance on-screen was actually a supporting role in The Bad Batch, which was released a year ago, where he was unrecognizable in the small cameo. During the release, Carrey also chose not to support the film, by rejecting all press opportunities.
So, just what has Jim Carrey been doing? The answer is painting, a creative outlet he is passionate about, which is seen in his short documentary I Needed Color. The six-minute video, which was uploaded to Vimeo in July, has since racked up almost five million views. When I really started painting a lot, I had become so obsessed that there was no room to move in my home. Paintings were everywhere, they were becoming part of the furniture – I was eating on them. I found myself looking ’round at one point, in a really bleak winter in New York, and it was so depressing – I think I needed color.
