Logic’s Bobby Tarantino II has landed one hell of a cartoon endorsement for his new release: Rick and Morty. A promo for Tarantino’s mixtape features every stoner’s favorite grandfather and grandson squabbling over whether they’re going to listen to album Logic versus mixtape Logic.
“Morty I’m sorry, I’m going to have to decline your request,” says Rick to Morty’s radio request for Logic as the two travel to Klaziblar Planet in Sector G-9. “You’re not fucking with Logic, bro?” replies Morty. It’s not as simple as fucking with or not fucking with Logic, Rick explains. Morty said that he prefers ‘album’ Logic instead of the style Logic usually puts out on display in his more colloquial, off-the-cuff mixtapes.
Rick explains that he wants some classic ATL club rap, ass, titties, that sort of routine. “I’m saying I’m in the mood to turn some shit up, Morty,” says Rick. “I’m not in the mood for a message about how I can be whatever I want.”
While it’ll probably be some time before we see the fourth season of Rick and Morty, plugs and ads that the two have done hustling on the side may sate fans before their new adventures. In 2015, the cartoon characters did a slimy, saucy spot for Carl’s Jr. where specialty sandwiches sloshed around Morty’s room. There was also a Rick and Morty tie-in to Ridley Scott’s Alien prequel, Covenant. While not an advertisement per se, Rick and Morty also made an elaborate cameo at Deadmau5’s New Year’s Eve party.
The first Bobby Tarantino mixtape was released in 2016. To launch the follow-up, Logic got the aid of Rick and Morty in a two-part Instagram post. It may seem a little more crudely animated than their hit Adult Swim series, but it is reminiscent of the original iteration of Rick and Morty which appeared on the comedy streaming site Channel 101
