11 Ways You Know You’re Super High RN
Those of us who enjoy a little herbal refreshment now and then know there’s getting high, and then there’s getting super high.
There are different levels of experience for those of us who enjoy a little herbal refreshment now and then. There’s that warm tingly sensation as it hits your body, that slow build as you relax, breathing deeper. Next, you start to feel your scalp hum as if rising off your skull. Then you feel it in your eyes, as your vision suddenly shifts to a heightened perception. Then your lips feel flush, and that is when it settles into your brain. And with a rush, you realize you are high. But as you keep smoking, or as the edible continues to course into your system, it becomes even stronger, though you might not notice at first. At the point you realize you are really, really high, it usually resembles a situation like one of these. Here are 11 ways to know you are super high.
1. Super high starts with the gigs
It only takes one stoned grammatical error by a friend, or someone saying anything that can be interpreted as sexual, and you begin to snicker. Then, the snicker becomes a chuckle, and the chuckle becomes a full-blown, chest burning, rib-aching laugh that won’t stop for 5 minutes.
The harder you try to stop, one look at someone’s raised eyebrows starts it all over again. They tell you it isn’t that funny, but the fact that they don’t think so is funny, too. You have “The Gigs”, and boy, are you high.
2. You become deeply fascinated
When you are really high, the simplest thing can hold a world of fascination. You might find yourself watching the smoke curl like ribbons as it rises from a joint, or stare deeply into the warm glow of the cherry and the slow progression of the burning paper, only to realize that you have let it burn halfway down without taking another hit.
3. Spurt of motivation
If you find yourself deep cleaning the microwave at 2 am, or suddenly tackling that stubborn stain on the couch like it slapped your mother, you know the herb is strong.
Having the sudden motivation to complete that art project or novel in one sitting, when you have been trying and quitting for weeks? That sounds like super high to me.
4. You lose track of your task
Have you ever walked into the kitchen to get a drink, and decided to make a sandwich to go with it? Sure. That is called thinking ahead. But if you then scrubbed the counters to clean up, did the dishes because the mayo knife was dirty, mopped the floor to pick up the crumbs, and then took out the trash only to go sit back down, and take a bite of your hard earned sandwich only to have to get up again to get a drink, you might be super high.
5. Losing count
Smoking one bowl is delicious. Smoking two is divine. Smoking three is impressive. Smoking two is… wait a minute.
That empathy and emotional understanding might just help you learn another language. If you find that you have watched 3 episodes of a great new series on Netflix only to realize it has been in Korean the whole time, you might be pretty high.
If you decide to keep watching because you have already made up your own story line, then you are super high.
7. Freeze frame
Sometimes, the vastness of space or a rush of thoughts can lead your mind down a winding path. A deep mental journey can take a while. If a sudden cramp or tremor in your arm makes you realize you have been holding a lighter and joint to your lips for 20 minutes without moving, you might be super high.
8. Where did it go?
The mysterious house fairy is at it again. Where are did the grinder go? It’s not on the coffee table. No one is holding it. Maybe you left it in the kitchen? If you stand up to go find it, only to see a full bowl of herb spill onto the floor from your lap, you are more than super high, you are wasteful.
9. Pete and repeat
Losing track of something can happen to the best of us. Being high can cause distractions, and the train of thought can take a while to get back on track. But if you keep checking your pockets every few minutes like a bad déjà-vu, then you are definitely higher than usual.
10. So very, very dry
Cottonmouth sucks. Everyone knows it. You will do, and drink, just about anything. A friend of mine would take a sip of tea and hold it in her mouth to absorb the moisture. She also tended to do this and then forget. When she did, the next words out of her mouth were accompanied by a spray of liquid and a lot of choking. At this point, we knew she was out of the rotation.
11. Short term memory
If you are reading this high, and still laughing, awesome. I have done my job. But if you can’t remember what #4 was without scrolling back up, then you might be really high, too. No peeking.
