Pot-smokers have a love-hate relationship with the munchies. Luckily, there are ways to eliminate the munchies altogether. Or at least make the cravings less intense. Too much food in the belly can be quite uncomfortable. Not to mention, it can result in some serious weight gain. Whether you are on a diet or just want to stay high longer, here are seven things you can do to curb your munchies.
In reality, you’re going to want to eat something no matter what. But that doesn’t mean you have to go straight for the donuts. Choose healthy foods rather than those that contain too much fat, sugar, and salt.
Sometimes, just putting something in your stomach can do wonders. Before you prepare a snack, try drinking some water. If the water fills you up, you’ll be less inclined to chow down on cookies and chips. Also, water is good for you in general, and won’t add on any pounds.
You might be confusing the munchies with actual hunger. For this reason, it’s best to have a snack or meal right before you light up. This way, you’ll know for sure if you’re famished, or just have a bad case of the munchies.
Not all weed gives you the munchies. There are quite a few strains that you can smoke and not feel the least bit hungry afterward. Take Jack Herer, for example, a lovely sativa known for its uplifting effects.

Staying active is a great distraction from the munchies. Not to mention, exercising while high has lots of benefits, other than curbing your vicious appetite. Try going for a walk outside. Or, meet up with a friend at the gym. Anywhere that doesn’t involve food will do just fine.
Sometimes, all it takes to cure the munchies is to keep your mouth occupied. And what better way to do that than with a piece of gum or a mint? For the most part, both mints and chewing gum are low on calories. Also, they are flavorful and quite enjoyable to chew/suck on while high.
Too much weed is never a bad thing. If the munchies become too overwhelming, fire up a strain that suppresses the appetite. Believe it or not, skinny weed does exist. Durban Poison and Blue Dream are two examples of strains that are less likely to induce the munchies.
