5 Alternatives To Smoking Weed Without A Butane Lighter
You have your stash, and you’re ready to elevate, but then you discover you have no lighter. Don’t panic! There are alternatives to using a butane lighter.
It happens. Sometimes, you find yourself in a situation where you are without a lighter or matches. But don’t give up hope, as here are five ways to smoke without a butane lighter or book of matches. Just remember to not get clumsy or lazy, as stupid can hurt.
1. Out with the knives
When it comes to knife hits, all you need is a stovetop, a couple of knives, a funnel of some sort, and then you’re good to go. Of course, heating the knives is simple, but do have to watch that you don’t burn yourself or others with the soon-be-hot utensils.
The funnel that you’ll use to inhale is easy, too, as you just need to cut off the bottom of a plastic soda bottle. From there, put it in the freezer to cool, while you wait for the knives to heat up. Once both are ready, hold the top of the bottle in your mouth, just to leave your hands free, and then press the flat side of a knife down on the bud that’s sitting on the other knife. The first time isn’t easy, and it can be more suited to smoking with friends, but it does get easier.
2. The Italian Job
Just like the knife hits, this alternative requires a stove, but less patience. First, heat up the element, then take either a strand of dry spaghetti – or, better yet, a toothpick – and hold it to the heat. It won’t take long for it to start to burn, which you can then use to light your bowl, meaning your night isn’t over.
Remember, the more you do it, the higher you’ll get, so don’t forget to dip the end of the spaghetti or toothpick in water when you’re done.
3. Up close
If you’re not in a place that sees a lot of sunlight, chances are this won’t work for you. But, for everyone else, remember that you can start fires by using a magnifying glass and the sun. It’s just how you imagine it, too, like some people learned while Boy Scouts. Of course, this won’t work at night (but you knew that anyway), and you’ll also have to have a steady hand.
4. Wax on
Now, this tip isn’t as easier as the aforementioned alternatives, but it is still an option. Instead of using the stove to heat the knives, you’ll light the wick of the candle like the toothpick – or piece of dry spaghetti – and then use that to light your bowl. It’s best to start with a new candle, as the longer the wick makes it easier to use and means you won’t get wax over you, your bowl and stash.
5. Au naturel
In theory, hemp wick is like a candle, but with far less wax and effort. You never know, after using it, it might become your preferred way to blaze. That’s because it not only burns at a lower temperature than butane, meaning less cannabinoids are being destroyed, but it also burns cleaner.
