If you live in one of the 5 most expensive countries to buy weed you know the pain of trying to score. In the USA or the Netherlands, weed is available just about right on your doorstep, even for those who are on a tighter budget. Unfortunately, there are still parts of the world where it is illegal to buy weed, making it next to impossible to get.
This also means that in some parts of the world it is downright expensive to buy ganja. If you’re in a weed legal place, consider yourself lucky, because some of these prices would make it very difficult to maintain a stoner lifestyle. Check out these five most expensive places to buy weed. You might be surprised!
1. Ireland at $13.45 per gram
Island measures up at 13.45 on the weed economy scale, which actually doesn’t make it so bad compared to other countries in Europe. With a population of only 6 million, and it being a tiny island, there’s no wonder weed is so expensive there. It is illegal and probably hard to get into the country for a pretty lousy demand.
2. Japan at $15.67 per gram
Japan comes in with the second most expensive gram of weed priced at almost $16. This on comes as no surprise given how illegal it is to grow and sell marijuana in Japan. It is considered almost unconscionable to sell drugs in Japan, so the people involved probably really want to get the money’s worth!
3. Finland at $19.17 per gram
Finland is just shy of $20 for a gram. Weed isn’t really a popular thing for Finnish people to use, so despite the fact that it is easy to get, it is quite expensive. The harsh marijuana laws in Finland also probably have something to do with why it is so expensive.
4. Estonia at $20.31 per gram
Things are starting to get really expensive in Estonia, with the gram checking in at over $20. Who can afford to smoke when weed is that expensive? Estonian drug laws mean that you can just about carry marijuana for personal use on you any time. Anything up to 7.5 grams and you’re free to go, but anything over that amount could land you in jail for up to five years. The extreme price of weed is probably to do with a small population.
5. Norway at $21.90 per gram
On the list of the five most expensive countries to buy weed in, Norway takes the cake at $20.91 a gram. However, marijuana has also basically been decriminalized in Norway, with penalties working on a sliding scale from personal use to trafficking. Anything within the personal use range gets away just fine. However, the expensive weed probably has something to do with the generally expensive cost of life in Norway.
