How CBD Dabs Are Making Dabbing Accessible To Everyone

Get instant relief without the high.

Many cannabis enthusiasts have heard of dabbing shatter, rosin, and wax, but don’t do it regularly because it’s not available where they live or they think it’ll be too strong. Also, for a long time, concentrate, or 710, culture was limited to states with progressive medical or adult use cannabis laws. But now, with the introduction of hemp-derived CBD concentrates, like CBD wax, crystals, crumble, and shatter, dab culture is accessible to all.

What is Dabbing?

Let’s clear up some misconceptions about cannabis concentrate lingo. Concentrates like shatter, wax, budder, crumble, bubble hash, sugar wax, rosin, and crystals are all cannabis extracts. Their name depends on two things: how they were made and their texture.

Most of these extracts are made using solvents. Although, some concentrates, like rosin, can be made without solvents. Solvents are liquid organic chemicals, like butane and CO2, that are used to dissolve solid material.

Shatter, wax, budder, and sugar wax are all made using butane as its solvent. In fact, many of these concentrates are made using butane and are often referred to as BHO, short for butane hash oil. Then, it comes down to texture. For example, shatter also refers to the glass-like and shiny appearance of the extract, the same way sugar wax crumbles like sugar.

Where does the term dabbing come from? Dabbing refers to the act of consuming these concentrates. A dab simply refers to a serving of wax, shatter, or crumble. What makes dabbing unique is the equipment needed to do it:

Because some worry about using a blowtorch, e-rigs have recently become popular. “E” stands for electronic because these rigs heat up using electricity. Vape pens with chambers designed for concentrates are another option, especially for on-the-go dabbing.

CBD Dabs: What are the Benefits?

People have begun using CBD dabs for a number of reasons. First of all, it’s important to remember CBD-only products are non-intoxicating and won’t get you high. Even more, CBD dabs derived from the hemp plant are available in all 50 states; we’ll get into the legality later on. Plus, many people report using CBD dabs for instant relief for the same medical reasons they use CBD including:

CBD dabs don’t give you that “euphoric” high like a dab with THC, but people do report feeling more relaxed and calm after taking CBD dabs. That’s great news for people who want to use cannabis for anxiety, but are afraid weed will make them more anxious. CBD dabs can help to relieve stress without the risk of the THC causing paranoia. Many are also using CBD dabs to help them sleep at night for this same reason.

How to Choose CBD Dabs

If you check out some of the top CBD dabs online, you’ll notice there’s a ton of choices like CBD wax, CBD crystals, and CBD isolate with terpenes or without. How do you know which CBD dabs to choose? What you buy will depend on the type of equipment you have and the flavor you’re looking for.

CBD shatter, wax, and crystals will work well on a traditional dab rig, like the Higher Standards Rig Kit or an e-rig like Dr. Dabber. You can also smoke shatter without a dab rig by adding a few drops to some weed in a bowl or in a joint. Be sure to check the CBD is coming from a reputable source by following this checklist.

Are CBD Dabs Legal?

Like we mentioned earlier, CBD dabs derived from the hemp plant are legal in all 50 states, but how? Since the 2014 Farm Bill, hemp and marijuana have different legal definitions. While both are technically the Cannabis sativa L. plant, hemp plants contain 0.3% THC or less. This is how CBD dabs are legal, they’re derived from plants with 0.3% THC or less. It’s also why they’re non-intoxicating.

In states with medical and adult use cannabis, there are even more options for accessible dabs that won’t get you too high. Look for concentrates that have a high CBD to THC ratio, like 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1. These extracts will have a psychoactive effect but produce a mellower, more manageable high than a traditional THC concentrate would. High CBD dabs can also provide fast and strong relief for many ailments, including:

  • Anxiety
  • Trouble sleeping
  • Chronic Pain
  • Post Workout Pain
  • Depression
