Meme cult “Da Share Z0ne” unveils a crazy-ass card game for weed lovers
The popular meme site will now have a game where loyalists can dumpster dive and battle edibles.
Some don’t get their posts. Others believe they deserve the MacArthur Genius Grant. Since 2015, there’s been one stop for the dopest, most chill and depressed memes on this heck-hole we call the internet: Da Share Z0ne. Now the skeletal memelord mascot (who goes by Admin) is releasing a game. In The Devil’s Level, players face off against each other to be as chill as a skeleton who’s anxious in social situations and will throw a sword at you if you don’t give back their Wiimote.
“OF COURSE YOU CAN SMOKE WEED WHEN YOU PLAY, IT’S STILL ILLEGAL IN SOME PLACES SO BE CAREFUL,” wrote Admin in an email to Herb. ”THANKS FOR WRITING ABOUT IT THERE IS A CARD ABOUT EDIBLES AND 1 ABOUT GETTING HIGH AT THE MUSEUM. SNOOP DOGG “SMOKE WEED EVERY DAY” NOT MY QUOTE TOOK IT FROM SNOOP DOGG”
Seemingly inspired by Da Share Z0ne’s official irony metric chart from 2016, The Devil’s Level is a card game where two to eight players race against each other to become ‘chill.’ Players must balance out their ‘genius level,’ ‘depression level’ and ‘horny level’ until one of them reaches 6 / 6 / 6, becoming the winner and coolest person.
The Kickstarter says that you don’t have to be part of the Da Share Z0ne cult to appreciate The Devil’s Level. Cards are based on events from your average day in the life of an Admin, like dumpster diving, feeding your friend’s iguana and getting stuck in the shed again. Some card art will be done by other online influencers, like KC Green, the cartoonist behind the ‘this is fine’ dog and the granddaddy of posting, Dril.
A Da Share Z0ne game seems pretty consistent in an era where games and weed are the only good things going. Admin may have set the stage as far back as 2016, when they took potshots at Cards Against Humanity, another popular game that got its start on Kickstarter. Beefing or not, The Devil’s Level is looking like another crowdsourcing success story, doubling its original funding goal within two days to $90,000.
“IM GLAD THE GAME IS DOING WELL,” said Admin, “ITS FUN TO PLAY AND THE ART IS GREAT (I MADE MOST OF IT)”
