That combined with consuming stimulants like excess caffeine and study drugs can just be too much for the body to handle. Here we show 8 times that video game addiction got the best of people and led to their early demise. So guys, remember to take a break every now and then.
1. Kaohsiung Internet Cafe
A man in a Taiwanese internet cafe had been playing for three days straight when his heart gave out on him. The worst part of this story was that the employees didn’t know he had died for hours, as they must have assumed he was just sleeping.
2. 40 Hours of Diablo
Another Taiwanese man passed away after a 40-hour long session with the intensely addicting RPG Diablo. Apparently the 18-year-old stood up after playing for almost two days straight and immediately collapse on the floor.

19-year-old Jeff Daily had achieved his personal high score of 16,660 points in the classic game Berzerk in 1981. It’s hard to find positivity in these kinds of stories, but at least he got to enter his score right?
4. Halo marathon
Chris Staniforth was playing Halo for 12 hours straight when a blood clot enters his lungs and caused a pulmonary embolism. When you don’t get up and move around for a long period of time, the blood in your legs can start to clot. These clots can become big enough to travel into you lungs and block the absorption of oxygen.
So remember to get up and get the blood pumping when sitting for long periods of time!

A 33-year-old Chinese man had spent a whopping 27 days continuously playing video games. His diet consisted of instant noodles and nothing else. He barely slept and after almost a month of gaming, his heart failed from malnutrition.
6. Christmas break
Instead of enjoying the holidays with family, a man from China dedicated the whole time to playing his favorite MMORPG. Now for a healthy individual, this would have been easily achievable. Unfortunately, this guy was 330 pounds and his heart was already weak. He died after a week of constant leveling-up.
7. Water intoxication
A woman from Sacremento had entered a radio station contest in the hopes of winning a brand new Nintendo Wii. The contest was titled “Hold your Wee for a Wii”, and all you had to do was drink lots of water and hold it in for as long as possible. Unfortunately, there’s a thing called water intoxication, and the woman died after drinking two liters of water.
8. Wii fit does the opposite
