It’s been 40 years since music legend Bob Marley released one of his most cherished records, Exodus. And anyone who has ever listened to it knows that it’s far more than just an LP. Not only is Exodus a declaration of religious expression, but also political freedom. And on November 1st, the Marley family and an all-star cast of musicians, featuring Jim James, Tom Morello, Gary Clark Jr, and more will gather together at the Orpheum Theatre in LA for ‘Exodus 40 Live’ and to celebrate the legacy of the best album of the 20th century.
‘Exodus 40 Live’ will honor the most iconic Bob Marley album of all time
This year marks the album’s 40th birthday, so to honor the iconic reggae album, Blackbird Presents has announced Exodus 40 Live, an all-star tribute concert taking place on November 1st.
The event will be held at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles. There, the musicians and the Marleys will come together to pay tribute to what Time magazine calls the best album of the 20th century in the most memorable way.
Bob Marley’s Exodus was unlike anything that the music icon released before. His previous albums typically revolved around cryptic story-telling. But not Exodus. This particular record speaks of change and so much more.
During the first half, the album focuses on religious politics. And in the second half, it centers on sex and keeping the faith. One track that seemed to stand out the most was “Exodus,” which notably became a no.1 hit in Jamaica, Germany, and the United Kingdom.
Little did anyone know, it was December 3rd of 1976 that would lead Marley to record this landmark album. After an assassination attempt on his life, he fled from Jamaica all the way to London. And nearly a year later, on June 3rd, 1977, Exodus was born.
The musical lineup and where to purchase tickets
If one thing is for certain, it’s that this event is not one to miss out on, especially if you’re a Bob Marley fan. Keith Wortman, the CEO, and founder of Blackbird Presents says he couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate,
Bob Marley’s songs, and the songs of Exodus, are more important than ever. I can’t think of any better way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of this iconic album than alongside his family and these incredible musicians.
And neither can music director Don Was,
After listening to Ziggy’s restatement of Exodus 40: The Movement Continues, the album struck me as something so powerful and rarely seen live in its entirety.
I am thrilled to be a part of this show with Ziggy and Stephen, and perform these songs for the fans.
As for the lineup of musicians, you can expect only the best, of course. Ziggy Marley, Stephen Marley, Tom Morello, and Gary Clark Jr. will all be joining music director Don Was. Also, Jim James, Citizen Cope, Aloe Blacc, Cyril Neville, and Terence Higgins will be there as well.

Also, you can call 800-745-3000 to purchase them as well. Fans can even grab them at the Orpheum Theatre box office too if they wish.
