10 Famous Stoners Who Quit Smoking Weed
Some are just toking up less, while others are swearing it off altogether. From rappers to composers, these 10 famous stoners are laying down the pipe.
As time goes by, states are legalizing weed left and right. But that doesn’t mean people are smoking more pot, nor does it mean more people are getting high. In fact, when it comes to celebs, several are choosing to ditch the herb for their own reasons. Some of the stars are just toking up less, while others are swearing it off altogether. From rappers to composers, here are 10 famous stoners that are laying down the pipe.
1. Kid Cudi
While on the road to fame, Kid Cudi landed himself in a pretty dark place. Not only did he fall victim to drugs, but also depression. Between that and his overnight success, it all became too much to handle, which is why he chose to quit both drinking and smoking weed.
2. Miley Cyrus
Once a loud and proud pot smoker, Miley decided to stop smoking weed to focus on her new album. Along with blaming pot for a handful of things, including her love for awkward animal suits, she also claimed that she had a scary dream where she died from smoking too much.
3. Method Man
Method Man isn’t swearing off pot entirely, but he is making it less of a priority. Apparently, he grew tired of people always thinking he was high 24/7, and so he chose to slow it down a bit.
4. Lady Gaga
Gaga still enjoys toking at night, but that’s about it these days. After injuring her hip during her 2013 Born This Way Ball tour, the singer started smoking up to 15 joints a day to help ease her pain, which quickly began to be a problem, she says.
5. J. Cole
J. Cole used to smoke pot. But according to the rapper, it was just a phase. One that he has outgrown,
That was my phase, but it was never for me.
6. Mark Foster
Believe it or not, weed’s number one fan Snoop Dogg is the one who encouraged Foster to quit smoking pot. While speaking with Q, the “Pumped Up Kicks” singer admitted to the Doggfather that he would still share a blunt with him if he had the chance. Snoop replied that sometimes you just have to slow your roll,
Y’know what, brother: sometimes you gotta slow down and focus on your shit.
7. Lil Wayne
In 2010, Weezy F Baby spent a year in jail, forcing him to quit smoking weed. After being released, he has managed to stay sober.
Yeah, it’s a big difference. I almost jumped in the crowd. I’m like, I’m sober, I’m sweating, I’m tasting my sweat. My sweat taste different. My sweat used to taste like weed.
8. Mark Wahlberg
Upon accepting Variety‘s Indie Impact Award in 2011, Wahlberg announced that had quit smoking pot. After his daughter had called him out for reeking of ganja, that’s when he knew it was time to stop,
One day, we were driving and you could smell it from somewhere. My daughter asked what the smell was so I told her it was a skunk. Then she said, ‘Sometimes Daddy smells like that!’ to me and my wife. So I knew I had quit.
9. Cee Lo Green
Despite contributing vocal tracks to Slim Thugs’s “Marijuana” tin 2010, Cee Lo Green quit smoking pot in the same year. According to the “Forget You” singer, he had a panic attack once while smoking weed, and that the experience of lighting up was never the same again for him.
10. Brad Pitt
Apparently, Brad eventually grew tired of smoking weed towards the end of the ’90s as it was causing him to feel sluggish and depressed. However, there was some speculation that his weed use carried on, as it is rumored to be the cause of his divorce from Angelina Jolie.
I was hiding out from the celebrity thing, I was smoking way too much dope, I was sitting on the couch and just turning into a doughnut and I really got irritated with myself.
