Capitol Cannabis: 5 Washington DC Dispensaries You Should Visit
After thousands of free DC-grown joints were given away at the #Trump420 protest, here’s a list of the top five dispensaries in the district.
On the heels of thousands of free DC-grown joints being given away at the #Trump420 protest by the DCMJ organization, here’s a list of the top five dispensaries in the Capitol.
Dispensaries were evaluated on the following criteria:
- Is it licensed?
- Do they sell medical cannabis?
- Is it located in DC?
As one of the most knowledgeable experts on DC cannabis, Joe Tierney, aka The Gentleman Toker, has written some of the most intimate reviews of DC cannabis products and events.
In the past year of belligerently yelling at our only five dispensaries over the interwebs to deliver better, cheaper products to their patients, there has been a clear effort by the top cultivators & dispensaries to do exactly that.
While Metropolitan Wellness Center remains an outlier with ounces of flower exceeding $600, I commend the program’s overall efforts while asking that they recognize there is still work to do to get the DC program on par with those out West.
National Holistic Healing Center
A fan of National Holistic, DC resident Joel Lopez gives it an enthusiastic recommendation:
I’m giving a shout-out to National Holistic Healing Center! They have an incredibly helpful and friendly staff, are located conveniently just north of DuPont circle, and has always had a great selection on their menu.
1718 Connecticut Ave NW, Level T Washington, DC 20009.
Takoma Wellness Center
Spence Thompson, another DC patient, gave his vote to the Takoma Wellness Center, saying,
They are the gold standard for how a patient-oriented dispensary should be run… Everybody in cannabis wants to talk about how cannabis can help pediatric patients but TWC actually provides CBD to pediatric patients in need.
6925 Blair Road NW Washington, DC 20012.
Metropolitan Wellness Center
Close to the Eastern Market stop on the green line, Metropolitan Wellness Center carries more than 50 cannabis products, all grown and produced in the district, plus a wide variety of accessories. They also have the pleasure of having cannabis community leader Sabria Melina Still, as a Product Specialist.
409 8th Street SE Suite 201Washington, DC20003.
Capital City Care
Located near the cross streets of North Capitol St. NW and New York Ave. NE, Capital City Care is close to the very hipster H street and the upcoming Eckington/Shaw neighborhoods. They are the only dispensary in D.C. authorized to cultivate medical marijuana, which means they can grow their own strains.
1334 North Capitol St NW, Washington, DC 20002.
Just a hop and a skip away from the National Geographic Museum in Downtown DC, Herbal Alternatives mission is to “strive to provide natural cannabis solutions that enhance the health and well-being of registered patients in a safe, open and caring environment.”
1710 Rhode Island Ave NW, Washington, DC 20036.
Choose wisely once you get your medical card in the district, as the council only allows each patient to sign up under ONE dispensary. Or, check out DC’s more liberal home grow laws.
It should also be mentioned that there are only five licensed dispensaries in DC.
