Ah, hash—your grandfathers “back in my day” version of dabs. While it doesn’t look as attractive as the honey-colored concentrates that have taken over cannabis forums, hash will always hold a special place in the hearts of cannabis connoisseurs.
Like other concentrates, hash is fairly easy to find at any given dispensary. But those who are unfamiliar with it will probably be surprised to learn that, unlike many cannabis oils, this marijuana concentrate can be made with little more than the kief in the bottom of your grinder. Simply put your kief into the corner of a plastic sandwich bag, and roll it together between your fingers until it all clumps together into a brown, clay-like ball. Some people also like to run the corner of the bag filled with kief under hot water to help everything stick together. This process can take a while, so don’t get discouraged. The end result is always worth it.
Since kief contains a significantly higher concentration of THC than your typical bud, and hash is a compressed, concentrated version of kief, it (unsurprisingly) packs a powerful punch. For this reason, it’s best to smoke it in extremely low doses. Try starting out with a piece no bigger than a grain of rice. Its effects will depend on the strain of cannabis you used to make it, but in general, one can expect to feel relaxed, stress-free and often giggly.
Although hash is extremely easy to make, it’s surprisingly difficult to figure out just how to use the stuff. There’s more than just one method, and each person will undoubtedly have their preference. In the following video, HERB D-I-HIGH will walk you through the four most popular methods.
