2Pac Nominated To The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame
Legendary rapper 2Pac is on the ballot of nominees for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Only the best of the best make it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Not only do these musicians make fantastic music, but they also influence the lives of many. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they have only to impact the genre of Rock and Roll. Notably, rapper Tupac Shakur is on the ballot of nominees for the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.
Rap meets Rock and Roll
One of the most legendary rappers of all time has made his way onto the ballot of nominees for 2017 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Tupac not only sold more than 75 million albums across the globe, but he also helped shape the future generations of rap.
During your life, never stop dreaming. No one can take away your dreams.
Alongside Tupac on the 2017 ballot of nominees is several other talented artists that include Pearl Jam and Janet Jackson. Also on the list are Bad Brains, Chaka Khan, The Cars, Depeche Mode, as well as a few others.
Despite rap being no stranger to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, people are still wondering why 2Pac is up for nomination. In fact, some are even criticizing it.
The primary focus for critics is the fact that Pac is a rap artist. However, they are missing the point of the nomination. Artists have made it into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame because they transformed music in some way, no matter the genre. 2Pac has done just that with his meaningful lyrics and sensational beats.
Another argument is the fact that Pac has a history of using drugs and speaks of sex and violence in his lyrics. But what artist hasn’t used a drug or two? Moreover, who doesn’t love sex? As for violence, dozens of rock artists’ music have rather aggressive lyrics. Does that mean you should knock them off the list? Certainly not.
Every time I speak I want the truth to come out. Every time I speak I want a shiver. I don’t want them to be like they know what I’m gonna say because it’s polite. I’m not saying I’m gonna rule the world or I’m gonna change the world, but I guarantee you that I will spark the brain that will change the world.
Despite the criticism towards Tupac’s nomination, twice as many people can agree that he deserves it. Not only did his music touch our hearts, but it also has a significant influence over rap today.
Despite his death occurring over 20 years ago, 2Pac remains to be one of the most famous rap artists of all time. And as the great one once said, “People die, but legends live forever.”
Be sure to cast your vote for this year’s nominees.
