It looks like MTV has picked out the perfect guest star to make appearances in its new cannabis comedy, Mary + Jane. He will also executive produce the TV show along with Deborah Kaplan. The news about Snoop’s involvement broke out at the MTV panel at TV Critics Association Summer Press Tour on Sunday. Along with producing and acting, Snoop will also be recording a song for the show’s opening tune.
So what’s the new MTV show about?
Mary + Jane stars Scout Durwood and Jessica Rothe as two young women who have created a local pot delivery service in Los Angeles. The app that they use for deliveries ends up getting the attention of many famous people in the city, and the girls will strive to manage the business with as little effort as possible.
Having a similar concept as the hugely popular show “Weeds”, Mary + Jane should appeal to a younger audience because of Snoop Dogg’s appearances and the young age of the two protagonists. Snoop’s fellow producer Deborah Kaplan had discussed his role in the show during the panel on Sunday.
He does not play himself. He’s like a Snoop Fairy. You don’t know when he’s going to appear. You have to watch all the way to an end to see him.
Other guest stars that you should watch out for include Seth Green, Leonard Roberts, Missi Pyle, and comedian Andy Daly. The US show is set to premiere on September 5th on MTV and is being backed by Snoop Dogg and Ted Chung’s production company, Merry Jane Productions.
