Nintendo’s recent foray into the mobile game market is shaping up to be one of the biggest Apple Store launches in history. That’s right, Super Mario Run has been downloaded an incredible amount of time since its launch on December 15th. How many times do you ask? Well, the experts are saying that the game is on track to have 50 million downloads just a week after launch. Apple’s senior marketing vice president Phil Schiller says that the game is the fastest downloaded game ever, even coming ahead of Niantics Pokemon Go.
Does Super Mario Run live up to the hype?
Considering that this is Nintendo‘s first attempt at a mobile game, the reactions have been generally quite positive. The game is easy to learn and has the addictive factor that many mobile games need to thrive.
The brand appeal is a contributing factor that probably had a lot to do with the games launch success.
Millions of kids grew up with Super Mario game, whether it be with the classic NES or Mario Kart on the Wii. So when Nintendo brings along a game that anyone can download on their phone, it makes sense that people were freaking out.
