Herb Plated: Paradise Cove Is The Quintessential California Beach Restaurant

This family-owned Malibu restaurant is a delicious California staple.

From views to eats, Paradise Cove has it all.

It sits right on the Malibu beach and embodies everything a beachy California restaurant should.

With decorative surfboards, tiki hut umbrellas, and undeniably stunning scenery, I can honestly say that Paradise Cove has my heart.

I have to say that it was a pretty giggly experience for me.

I might have had a little too much of Pure Beauty’s Blue Dream strain (my portable bong is a ride or die).

This cheerful Sativa had my stomach grumbling and in need of some familiar California eats.

Keep reading to see what made my mouth water at Paradise Cove.

First Course

My friends and I shared the Shrimp Balague appetizer.

The menu noted that this recipe is a favorite of owner Bob Morris and his family restaurant “Jack’s At The Beach.”

It came with deluxe shrimp and a tasty parmesan cheese crust with onions. The shrimps were huge!

There was enough to go around, plus the parmesan crust added a pleasant crunchy twist. The diverse flavors complimented each other very well, especially the tangy yet refreshing onions.

Because the seafood experience was top-tier, we wanted to kick things up a notch with our main courses.

My friends and I shared the second course, and there was even enough to pack up some leftovers.

We had the renowned Iced Seafood Sampler. When we saw the waitress carry it over, we thought, “who’s lucky enough to feast on that”?

The colossal meal landed on the table in a massive metal dish packed with ice.

It was piled with deluxe shrimp, crab legs, ahi sashimi poke, a giant clearwater prawn, house-smoked salmon, fresh fish ceviché, marinated calamari steak strips, and marinated mussels.

If that’s not a seafood lover’s dream, I don’t know what is.

Dessert

We were stuffed to the brim with seafood.

We were sitting outdoors, so my friend let me take a discreet puff of her Pineapple Coast disposable from Dompen to prepare us for dessert.

Paradise Cove makes it clear that all dishes are pretty big, perfect for sharing.

We shared the delicious Hot Fudge Sundae to cleanse the palate with sweet and creamy notes.

It came in a lovely and large martini glass with rich vanilla ice cream, crispy cinnamon chips, a whole lot of whipped cream, and a cherry on top (which I snagged).

Final Thoughts

The staff and service at Paradise Cove were so accommodating, especially when the sun got too hot and we wanted to move into a shadier area.

The service was quick, and they had a drink in my hand within minutes. Plus, it’s a family-owned restaurant with roots in Paradise Cove that date back to the 1950s.

You can tell that the Morris family put their heart and soul into this lovely restaurant, and it’s definitely paying off.

Whether you show up a little blazed or want a buzz from the many cocktails, there’s an experience for all at Malibu’s Paradise Cove.
