Delta 8 THC represents one of over 100 compounds found in the cannabis plant called cannabinoids. While the most common cannabinoid is Delta 9 THC—the main psychoactive source of marijuana’s signature high—Delta 8 occurs in lower natural concentrations with slightly milder effects.

As of mid-2022, bills in the Maryland House and Senate have proposed nearly banning the retail sale of Delta 8 products outside medical cannabis dispensaries. While not yet passed into law, momentum moves towards prohibiting unregulated Delta 8 THC sales in the near future.

Until tighter laws fully restrict retail sales, adult consumers over 21 can currently find Delta 8 products in some local stores and online shops.
