In an attempt to prove it’s not what you eat, but how you work it off, one man dedicated himself to consuming an entire pizza every day for one year, while remaining healthy. This challenge might sound like one we’d all partake in, but a non-stop pizza party might be too much for most people to stomach after a few weeks. Not for this guy. His dedication led to some interesting findings, proving that a pizza a day might just keep the doctor away.

Brian Northrup is the self-proclaimed Lord of Pizza. His love of the pie is surpassed only by his desire to stay fit and active. When Northrup came up with the idea to incorporate the two, he knew something special was about to come to fruition.

Northrup decided that for an entire year he would consume a whole Domino’s pizza every 24 hours. His goal was to show people that indulging in unhealthy food, even if it is done every day, does not have the power to undo a healthy workout or strenuous exercise routine.

The #Pizzapocalypse began on July 28, 2016. Northrup was dedicated to making his experiment work and documented the entire process on his Instagram and YouTube pages. This gave followers the opportunity to closely monitor his progress and daily exercise schedules, ensuring he was not skimping out on pizza.

After a staggering 367 days, on July 31, Northrup posted his final body shot, proving the pizza didn’t harm his physique in any way. In fact, the caption that accompanied his astounding image explained how he actually lost weight throughout the process.

The #PIZZAPOCALYPSE is complete. My final weigh in was 161.2 lbs. For comparison, my weigh in on day 1 was 167.1 lbs. I LOST 5.9 lbs eating an entire pizza every day for a year.

In addition, I’ve increased my strength, speed, AND (most important to me) my cardiovascular endurance over the course of this endeavor. Also, I haven’t been sick for a single day of this experience, nor have I injured myself a single time.

The results seem almost too good to be true, but Northrup assures that with diligent hard work and, most importantly, a full-proof exercise routine that is never skipped, people can consume their favorite foods without ruining their bodies.

Sure, you might not want, or be able to put in the amount of work that I do, but if you think you could be doing more, I just want to show that it’s worth it.

If you see me, a relatively small guy, who was never a good athlete… I want to be a reminder of what’s possible through hard work.

His words serve as a reminder that living an active lifestyle is an important part of maintaining a healthy and happy life. While you don’t need to go overboard, spending hours upon hours in the gym, like Northrup might have done, doing something as simple as taking the stairs instead of the elevator can have a much larger impact on your life than imagined.
