THC-O vs THC-P: Comparing Differences & Effects

What do we know so far about THC-O and THC-P and how do they compare to each other?

The world of cannabinoids is vast and mysterious, and each compound offers a unique set of potential effects and benefits.

Among the newest cannabinoids are THC-P and THC-O, sparking curiosity and debate in the cannabis community.

Understanding these cannabinoids is crucial to understanding how these cannabinoids affect our bodies, what effects they generate, and how they vary in potency from one another.

Even today there is still a lot we don’t know about them, but in this article, we will tell you what we do know and how they compare to each other.

But let’s start with the basics.

What Is THC-P?

THC-P, or tetrahydrocannabiforol, is a cannabinoid that has generated interest due to its potential psychoactive effect and properties.

It is a variant of THC, the main psychoactive compound in the cannabis plant. THC-P has been noted to be potentially more potent than traditional THC, meaning it could have more intense psychoactive effects.

THC-P is produced through a series of chemical processes involving the modification of other cannabinoids, such as cannabidiol (CBD). Although it can be found in small amounts in cannabis plants, large-scale production usually requires chemical synthesis methods.

In terms of effects, it is believed that THC-P may have similar properties to conventional THC, such as euphoria, relaxation, and increased appetite. However, due to its potential to be significantly more potent than THC, it could produce more intense effects, possibly including hallucinogenic effects at higher doses.

What Is THC-O?

THC-O, or tetrahydrocannabinol acetate, is another cannabinoid that has generated interest due to its unique properties and potential psychoactive effects. Like conventional THC, THC-O interacts with cannabinoid receptors in the body but has some important differences.

Unlike conventional THC, THC-O is not found naturally in cannabis plants and therefore must be synthesized in the laboratory.

What makes THC-O particularly interesting is its potential to be significantly more potent than traditional THC.

THC-O is believed to be approximately three times more potent than delta-9 THC, which is the most well-known form of THC. This means that, in theory, a much smaller amount of THC-O could produce psychoactive effects similar to those of conventional THC.

In terms of its effects, THC-O has been associated with effects similar to those of conventional THC, such as euphoria, relaxation, and altered perception. However, it has also been reported that THC-O can have a longer-lasting and more potent effect compared to standard THC.

Effects of THC-P and THC-O

Both THC-P and THC-O mimic the effects of THC by interacting with cannabinoid receptors, some of their main effects are:

Effects of THC-P

  •   Euphoria
  •   Relaxation
  •   Increased talkativeness
  •   Increased appetite
  •   Potential for hallucinogenic effects (at higher doses)

Effects of THC-O

  • Euphoria
  • Relaxation
  • Increased sensory perception
  • Possibility of psychedelic hallucinations (higher doses)

Let us not forget that each body is different, and we all react differently even to the same compounds.

It is important to note that the effects of both cannabinoids can vary greatly depending on dosage, individual tolerance, and method of consumption.

Potency

THC-P is estimated to have 33 times the CB1 binding capacity and 5 to 10 times the CB2 binding than THC. What is believed is that THC-P has the potential to be up to 30 times more potent than THC.

Meanwhile, THC-O is believed to be about three times more potent than delta-9 THC, but we do not yet have enough scientific data to confirm this.
