The Best Movies To Watch On Mushrooms

Can someone say epic movie night?

Mushrooms? Check. Good vibes? Check. All we need is a dope movie, and we’re set.

The magical world of psilocybin mushrooms is enigmatic. One minute, you could be laughing your ass off about absolutely nothing. The next, you could be spiraling into a conspiracy theory rabbit hole that you pray to remember the next day.

Tripping on mushrooms is quite an experience, but it doesn’t always have to be filled with adventure and thrills. Instead, why not find a thrill from the comfort of your couch?

Below, we’ve listed our favorite movies to watch while on mushrooms. Ranging from documentaries to psychological thrillers, these are the flicks for your trip.

Fantastic Fungi

While you’re tripping on psilocybin mushrooms, why not pay homage to the special world of fungi that sprawls the globe beneath our feet?

That’s precisely what director Louie Schwartzberg brings to the table in his Netflix documentary, Fantastic Fungi. He breathtakingly captures the life cycle of fungus and its benefits on humans, animals, insects, and the planet.

The vivid visuals are fantastic while you’re under the influence of our fungi friends, and the compelling speeches are nothing short of inspiring.

Interstellar

As if we’d make a list of movies to watch while tripping out without Interstellar. Not only are Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway’s performances deeply engaging, but the entire plot is an emotional mind-fuck.

As a team of researchers head across the galaxy in search of a new home for earthlings, they encounter several unnerving situations with top-tier visuals (you likely know I’m talking about the wave scene). Feel free to pause and ground yourself back to reality at any point.

Inception

If you haven’t watched Inception yet, do you even like movies? Some people are, in fact, lucky enough not to have seen this mind-boggling masterpiece.

Whether you’re new to it or know every line, Inception is one of the best possible movies to watch during your psilocybin trip. It’s arguably one of the best psychological thrillers out there, meaning there are tons of puzzles for your mind to solve.

It stars familiar faces like Leonardo DiCaprio as Cobb, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Arthur, Cillian Murphy as Fischer, and Tom Hardy as Eames.

Pink Floyd: The Wall

If you’re a fan of the psychedelic classic rock band Pink Floyd, we highly recommend the live-action and animated psychological musical drama inspired by the band’s 1979 album of the same name.

Although emotional, it’s a trippy film that sees a successful yet dazed musician falling deeper into introspection with psychedelic hallucinations about building a symbolic wall to cope with his father’s death. The ratings speak for themself, and the visuals are a must-watch while tripping on psilocybin.

The Midnight Gospel

Although this is a series and not a movie, The Midnight Gospel is an excellent choice for trippers in search of 20 minutes of enlightenment and laughs.

It’s an animated series featuring our main host and space traveler Clancy (Duncan Trussell), who interviews real-life people about interesting subjects while their animated selves travel through the celestials. It’s equally funny as it is trippy, engaging, and refreshing.

Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas

Starring Johnny Depp as Raoul Duke and Benicio del Toro as his attorney Dr. Gonzo, this trippy movie is a classic. If you haven’t seen it yet, do yourself a favor and save it for a trippy movie night.

It features an epic consumption of drugs that leads the duo on an entertaining yet unsettling journey. It’s quite the hilarious flick that features odd and psychedelic twists and turns you can likely relate with.
