What is DMT: Effects & Facts

Everything you need to know about DMT and why it's referred to as the "spirit molecule."

Whether you’ve seen a movie where someone tripped on DMT or heard Joe Rogan rave about the substance on his podcast, the drug is quickly moving through the psychedelic community faster than ever due to its distinct effects, spiritual inclination, and incredibly unique experiences. If you’re wondering if a DMT trip is right for you, keep reading for a complete look at this life-changing substance.

What Is DMT?

DMT has become an incredibly popular substance amongst the psychedelic community, mostly because it’s one of the most powerful substances known to man.

DMT (N, N-Dimethyltryptamine) is a spiritual psychedelic substance that quickly kicks in and produces an otherworldly experience that offers even more powerful effects than psilocybin mushrooms and LSD. Did you know humans already have DMT in our brains?

However, we only feel the effects when ingesting the substance and breaking it down in the liver. DMT can be ingested by smoking, snorting, or injecting.

The otherworldly and powerful psychedelic effects of DMT have spurred researchers and users alike to refer to the substance as the spirit molecule. But this isn’t your regular run-of-the-mill psychedelic experience; it’s one where you never feel alone.

Mind you; this can be positive or negative depending on your mental outlook and openness to accepting the full effects. The most vivid and recurring theme within DMT trips is the presence of an entity or alien, and not an extraterrestrial, more like a foreign figure that you can either see or feel.

Its presence can be used as a spirit guide, showing the user what different dimensions look like. However, some negative experiences may feel like the entity is watching you, following you, and inspecting your every move.

Users have different experiences with these entities, some can even talk to them through telepathy or actual conversation, and some can’t interact with them whatsoever.

How Long Does DMT Last?

Compared to most psychedelic substances, the great thing about DMT is how quickly it takes to kick in. When smoked, snorted, or injected, the drug usually produces its maximum effects if the user inhales and holds for about 20 seconds.

Sixty seconds later, you’re riding the train into another dimension. However, what some users aren’t too fond of is how quickly the effects dissipate, which usually last about 45 minutes to one hour.

This can be a pro if you’re not too comfortable during your trip or have already found everything you need in terms of spiritual guidance and communication.

Two words, another dimension. DMT offers by far one of the most transcendent psychedelic experiences, which starts with a quick wave of deep relaxation that drifts into an otherworldly sensation that feels as if your soul is leaving your body.

When traveling into another dimension, you’ll notice the rich and vibrant colors, moving spirits, objects, or entities and feel an urge to explore this temporary reality.

This is a rejuvenating experience for those who understand that our bodies are nothing more than a shell for our souls, allowing us to accept these experiences and interact with the entities noted above for a truly spiritual and life-changing trip.
