The terrifying KNP Complex wildfire in California has managed to scorch through a small and cherished area of the Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park, terrorizing some of the largest trees in the world.
After the fire blazed through 21,777 acres, it landed in the Four Guardsman’s area. Thanks to firefighters, the world’s largest tree by volume, the General Sherman tree, was wrapped in an aluminum-based burn-resistant material beforehand, leaving the tree safe, tall, and undisturbed.
In a recent TikTok posted by @tommyregister, a video shows the devastating and life-threatening extents that brave firefighters go to. Viewers can see the massive blaze ripping through the forest while quickly catching up to the firefighters.
The blaze got so close that one firefighter said over the walkie-talkie, “Copy that, yeah we’re just going to turn around,” where the firefighters recording were almost trapped in the blaze and followed with, “Turning around’s not an option.”
The firefighters quickly became distressed and in fear for their lives as the blaze began to graze their vehicle while they re-adjusted themselves to get back on the road and safely flee the scene.
