Can you imagine what it would be like to serve a jail sentence of 39 years for a crime you committed? Now imagine serving that same sentence for a crime you didn’t commit.
Ricky Jackson lived that latter scenario, and we get to witness the day he becomes a free man. Aside from watching the palpable joy resulting from justice restored, we are also gifted with an example of incredible graciousness.
When asked if he holds resentment for the man actually guilty of the murder charge he was wrongly accused, Mr. Jackson says no. Instead he explains he’s grateful that the man stepped forward, and honors him with the courage it would take to do so.
