As Riot Fest was in full swing this past weekend, Slipknot jumped in last minute to replace Nine Inch Nails on stage. At the same time, Machine Gun Kelly was performing on a different stage at took the opportunity to throw shade at the iconic metal band.

Noticing that some fans were heading over to Slipknot’s stage, MGK took his chances between songs to make a dig at Knot’s Corey Taylor and the rest of the group by telling the crowd, ”Hey, you wanna know what I’m really happy that I’m not doing? Being 50 years old wearing a fucking weird mask on a fucking stage talking shit.”

He playfully added, ”So anyway, what’s everyone’s favorite candy? Reese’s Pieces?”

The unnecessary comment came after Knot’s Corey Taylor said that MGK had “failed in one genre and decided to go rock” earlier this year, which might be why the feud started.

Fans were quick to take Slipknot’s side, as ‘The Internet’s Busiest Music Nerd’ Anthony Fantano posted on his TikTok account (@theneedletok) to throw some needed shade back at MGK.

The video shows Fantano expanding on the event and explaining, “Man, this is not the way to go about it. You’re going to pull the age card right now?”

He then pulled up the lyric sheet for MGK’s “love race” and followed up by saying, “Meanwhile, you’re in your thirties and still writing and singing songs about kissing in the bleachers?”
