There’s no shortage of innovation in the cannabis industry. With new products and cannabinoids popping up left and right, more consumers than ever are finding the perfect solution for their unique wants and needs.

With its rise in popularity, we’ve been getting some questions like Where can I buy HHC flower online? While a ton of companies are selling this cannabinoid, we’ll point towards reliable sources with trusted options that pack a psychoactive punch.

This guide covers everything you need to know about HHC, HHC flower, and where to find the best products.

What Is HHC Flower?

HHC flower is hemp flower that’s either infused or sprayed with HHC. This is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in hemp plants, but it’s not abundant enough to extract and bring to market.

HHC is slightly different than other hemp-derived cannabinoids. Manufacturers create it by adding hydrogen molecules to THC or other cannabinoids, altering their chemical structure through a process called hydrogenation. HHC produces very similar effects to Delta-9 THC but offers a Farm Bill-compliant alternative for those who can’t access classic Delta-9 THC.

HHC flower is usually made by taking high-CBD hemp plants and infusing or spraying their nugs with HHC distillate. It’s safe to use just as you would with regular flower—smoked, vaped, and baked into edibles.

When it comes down to HHC’s chemical structure, here’s where it gets interesting. HHC flower products might have a longer shelf life than regular THC flower due to the hydrogenation process mentioned above, which makes it more stable and resistant to oxidation and overall degradation.

What To Look For When Buying HHC Cannabis Flower

Source And Quality Of Base Hemp

Where is the original hemp plant grown? How was it grown—indoors or outdoors? Questions like these make a huge difference in your experience with HHC flower.

Here’s what to keep an eye out for:

  • Organically grown hemp without pesticides or chemicals
  • Cultivation in clean soil (ideally US-grown or grown locally near you)
  • Proper curing and handling

HHC Production And Purity

If what’s sprayed or infused into hemp flower is low-quality HHC, you can kiss a quality buzz goodbye. It’s crucial to understand the quality of the featured HHC distillate before your purchase.

Keep these tips in mind:

  • 90%+ purity is considered high-purity HHC: Higher purity means fewer unwanted byproducts or residual chemicals, resulting in a cleaner “high”
  • Always check for third-party lab tests: A reputable brand will provide COAs (Certificate of Analysis) from independent labs that verify there aren’t any harmful solvents, heavy metals, or pesticides in the HHC product
  • Reliable sources use food-grade solvents: High-quality HHC uses safe solvents like ethanol or carbon dioxide.
  • Proper extraction methods are used: Hydrogenation of Delta-8 or Delta-9 THC is an FDA-approved process, which safely adds hydrogen molecules to THC to convert it into HHC. Other clean extraction methods, like supercritical CO₂ extraction and ethanol extraction, ensure purity by removing unwanted compounds without leaving harmful residues.

Even Distribution

For best results, HHC should be infused into the buds rather than sprayed, which can cause uneven distribution. Still, sprayed HHC can still work just fine if it’s applied correctly.

Here are some ways to tell if HHC was distributed well:

  • The flower should look just like regular flower from cannabis plants
  • No visible clumping or excessive crystals in some areas
  • No overly glossy or artificial look

Strain Selection And Terpene Profile

Just like classic cannabis flower, HHC flower still comes in an array of strains with various terpene profiles. Different strains offer different effects:

  • Indica-dominant strains for relaxation and sleep
  • Sativa-leaning strain for energy and focus
  • Hybrid options for balanced effects
  • Rich terpene profiles enhance flavors and the entourage effect

We’ve looked far and wide, high and low, coast to coast—looking for the best HHC flower to buy online.

We know our friends in anti-recreational states are itching to catch a quality buzz. So, we did the grunt work and put some different brands to the test.

Keep reading for our honest thoughts.

1. Lemon Octane HHC Flower By Fern Valley Farms

Our number one spot goes to Fern Valley Farms’ Lemon Octane HHC Flower—hands down. Why? It’s the perfect blend of quality, effects, and true value.

Lemon Octane, to my surprise, is an Indica-dominant strain. I thought its zesty lemon notes would bring some more pronounced Sativa genetics, but it wasn’t enough to keep my mind buzzing.

Fern Valley Farms comes through with all the information you need to consume HHC flower with peace of mind:

  • An impressive 19.28% HHC content
  • Complemented by 13.44% CBDA
  • A total cannabinoid profile of 33.54%

With a full swing of hemp-derived cannabinoids and terpenes like Myrcene, Caryophyllene, and Bisabolol, this hemp flower produces an insane entourage effect with a similar potency to what you’d get from cannabis plants.

Organically cultivated at Fern Valley Farms in Oregon and infused with their 91% HHC distillate, this strain is available in quantities ranging from 1/8 to 1lb.

With its overall experience of bright citrus and sour diesel notes with subtle earthy undertones, alongside some familiar effects, this HHC flower easily snagged our number one spot.

2. Skywalker OG HHC Hemp Flower By Exhale Wellness

These last few years, we’ve seen Exhale Wellness build a strong reputation in the alternative cannabinoid space. But it’s been quite some time since we dabbled in their goodies.

So, I picked up their Skywalker OG HHC Flower. And right from the jump, I could tell this experience would be even more predictable due to the extensive, transparent information provided by Exhale Wellness.

This balanced hybrid combines the legendary genetics of OG Kush and Skywalker. It’s 100% naturally grown, non-GMO hemp flower that’s gone through intense third-party lab testing. The nugs were stored in glass jars and they came out extremely fresh. Personally, I always prefer glass jars since they help preserve the buds’ potency better than other packaging.

Upon opening that jar, a blast of pine, citrus, and fruits smacked the nose and caused some serious mouthwatering. Smoking it was a rich flavor experience with added notes of tropical fruit on the exhale.

What I didn’t like? Again, a lack of transparent information—this time in regards to potency. Quite frankly, I have no idea how pure Exhale’s HHC is, nor do I know the final potency of the end product.

But did it hit? Absolutely.

3. Elyxr HHC Flower

We had to show some love to Elyxr’s line of HHC flower. While it didn’t make the number one stop, the brand’s strain selection is quite impressive, and their HHC purity is slightly above average.

At $29.99, you can grab a 1/8 of one of these strains below:

  • Cherry Bomb
  • Do-Si-Dos
  • Durban Poison
  • Godfather OG

Prices increase alongside quantity, with the maximum amount being one full pound. I personally enjoyed the Godfather OG strain, a wicked Indica that had me In-Da-Couch in no time. Its potency was pretty impressive, but here’s the thing.

I couldn’t tell whether these nugs were infused or sprayed with HHC. I would have appreciated more transparency on the BTS of how the flower has been treated.

That said, Elyxr does emphasize using fresh, high-quality base hemp flower before applying their 96% pure HHC distillate. But for a lack of transparent information, this HHC flower remains our third choice.

HHC Vs. THC: Is HHC Stronger Than THC?

HHC is best described as the middle ground between Delta-8 THC (another hemp-derived cannabinoid) and Delta-9 THC. In terms of potency, a quality HHC product can deliver about 70-80% of the strength of classic Delta-9 THC.

While HHC is definitely milder than Delta-9 THC, judging their effects based on raw potency alone isn’t the most effective. For someone like me who is susceptible to THC-induced paranoia, HHC is a great alternative.

Here’s my general analysis of how HHC compares to Delta-9 THC:

  • HHC is generally less mild than THC, producing less psychoactive effects
  • HHC offers more clear-headed effects
  • The effects of HHC might last longer than THC

Regarding that last point, HHC’s effects often last longer than Delta-9 THC thanks to those added hydrogen molecules, which make it chemically more stable and slower to break down in the body. This means the high can stretch out for several hours, making it a solid choice for those who prefer a longer-lasting experience without needing to redose as often—a definite bonus for value and convenience.

And unlike THC’s mega euphoric intensity, HHC has more of a relaxing body buzz.

HHC Flower Effects: What To Expect

HHC interacts with your endocannabinoid system similarly to Delta-9 THC.

A 2023 study published in the Journal of Cannabis and Cannabinoid Research surveyed 109 participants who self-administered HHC products. The results showed that most users reported positive effects, with relaxation and euphoria being the most common benefits, outweighing any negative experiences.

From other HHC user reports, the effects of consuming HHC flower may include:

Mild To Moderate Euphoria: Expect a lifted mood and a gentle buzz without overwhelming intensity.

Physical Relaxation: HHC is known to have more of a physical effect than Delta-9 THC, so it might help with muscle relaxation and pain relief.

Familiar Delta-9 THC Effects: If you’re familiar with regular THC, expect a similar yet slightly reduced experience: Better appreciation of music, flavors, and sensations.

Mild Munchies: They’re mild, but they’re there.

Improved Sleep: Since HHC is more physical, it makes for a great relaxant in the evening.

Entourage Effect: This happens because HHC is accompanied by the other cannabinoids and terpenes found in the hemp plant.

And how long do these effects last? HHC flower products take effect almost instantly, expect the effects to last 2-4 hours (depending on tolerance).

Is HHC Legal?

Currently, HHC is legal in the United States since it’s technically compliant with the 2018 Farm Bill. Still, it falls under a legal gray area that all HHC users should know.

Per the Farm Bill, HHC products are legal if they’re derived from hemp and contain less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC. Since HHC isn’t technically THC, nor is it specifically named as a controlled substance, it’s technically federally legal.

That said, here are a few things to note regarding HHC’s legality:

  • Make sure you’re up to date on local cannabis laws since they can change
  • The DEA isn’t so fond of hemp-derived cannabinoids
  • Some states have banned HHC and other cannabinoids

For everyone’s peace of mind, always do your research to ensure HHC is legal in your area before shipping products to your door. While it should be fine, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.
