Movies & Munchies: The Best Stoner Movies Of All Time

These movies have kept stoners laughing since 1978.

Let’s be honest; stoners do comedy best.

It all started with the iconic duo Cheech & Chong, who passed the blunt over to other comedians to keep us smiling.

Years later, we have a ton of hilarious stoner films to choose from. But which do you pick for an evening of giggles?

Check out our favorite stoner movies of all time below.

Cheech & Chong's Up In Smoke

Movie: Cheech and Chong

This is the movie that birthed the stoner flicks we know and love. Dated? Yes, but it’s a classic if there ever was one.

It’s safe to say that Cheech and Chong’s jokes are timeless.

In their debut film, the stoner duo travels from Mexico to America in a van made out of weed.

From run-ins with the law to many hotboxes, the duo’s iconic humor makes this film a must-see.

Friday

If you haven’t seen Ice Cube and Chris Tucker in Friday, then “Daaammnnn,” what are you doing?

This film was the birthplace of many iconic lines and scenes, like Tucker teaching Cube about the sacred stoner rule, “puff, puff, pass.”

The movie sees the boys on a long and eventful Friday, starting with Cube getting fired on his day off. The only problem is Tucker and Cube need to find the funds to pay back their supplier, or they’re toast.

Pineapple Express

Are you even a stoner if you haven’t seen Pineapple Express?

This film tracks the many mishaps of Seth Rogen and his dealer, James Franco, as they get caught up in a murder and try to escape their way out…while high.

This movie also popularized the renowned cross joint, which Franco’s character describes as “the apex of the vortex of joint engineering.”

How High

You’ll definitely love the hilarious antics at Harvard University featured in How High.

The film stars rappers and hip-hop artists Method Man and Redman. But this time, they look to get some “higher” education. Their main issue is staying focused and not gazing over the beautiful women on campus.

When they’re out of weed, they dig up the body of John Quincy Adams to smoke his bones.

Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle

Another stoner film franchise that’s bound to get you rolling on the floor.

Harold & Kumar, more specifically, Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, takes you on an epic adventure.

The treasure? Nothing more than the best hamburgers known to man. During their time, Harold and Kumar experience some bizarre run-ins, including a cameo from Neil Patrick Harris. All we have to say is, “Thank you, come again!”

Ted

Seth MacFarlane knows his way around comedy that punches you in the gut. In his 2012 film, Ted, he plays a weed-loving teddy bear best friend. When Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis try to kick Ted out and move on with their lives, he puts up quite the fight.

You’ll be hunched over in a laughing fit with scenes like Ted banging a cashier on top of a grocery store’s produce. “I f*cked her with a parsnip last week.”

Half Baked

See comedian Dave Chappelle in his knee-slapping 1998 stoner flick.

Half Baked features a happy stoner quartet who doesn’t have much going for them.

The girls are scarce, but the weed is good. When one of their friends feeds a police horse some treats, the other boys are left picking up the pieces to bail him out of jail. They look to sell some weed to raise their bail funds. “We’re not drug dealers; we’re fundraisers.”

Dazed and Confused

This classic is a must-see. Dazed And Confused features teens from a small town in Texas fleeing the last day of high school in 1976.

They’re looking forward to the sex, drugs, and antics going down at the big kegger.

Many classic lines come from this iconic stoner flick, like “I wanna dance!” and Matthew McConaughey’s “The older you do get, the more rules they’re gonna try to get you to follow. You just gotta keep livin’, man. L-i-v-i-n.”

Cannabutter Peanut Butter Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • One teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup cannabutter
  • ¾ cup peanut butter
  • One large egg beaten

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven to 350° F.
  2. Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper. Place the sugar, cannabutter, and peanut butter in a large mixing bowl. Use an electric mixer. Add the beaten egg and mix until well incorporated.
  3. Mix the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium-sized bowl. Using an electric mixer on low speed, blend the dry ingredients into the wet. Using your hands, create lightly moistened dough balls of any size. Place each evenly spaced on a baking sheet with more than enough space for rising.
  4. Bake until the cookies are very crisp, about 10 minutes. Cool only slightly before serving.
