Which Social Media Platform Is The Most Cannabis Friendly?

You'll be surprised by which platform is the most inclusive when it comes to marijuana.

Whether you’re using Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, or any other social media platform, you’ve probably seen your favorite canna-blogger’s page get deleted from time to time.

This is a running theme with social media and cannabis. As unfortunate as it is, many cannabis activists cannot spread the word on how helpful weed can be, especially when content surrounding the drug goes against a platform’s rules and regulations.

Users can even be “shadow-banned,” a term for a platform’s algorithm to keep a user’s content from being shared and promoted to other users, resulting in fewer interactions overall. Unfortunately, this leaves the cannabis industry with minimal outlets for proper advertising while connecting with enthusiasts, buyers, and investors alike.

Many brands and companies have created cannabis-specific platforms that won’t ban the content but rather celebrate it to build lasting connections with consumers. Although these are somewhat beneficial, one social media giant seems to be the most welcoming to cannabis-related content. Can you guess what it is?

You probably didn’t guess LinkedIn; according to various sources noted below, LinkedIn is happy to share content regarding cannabis, the industry’s evolving businesses, and supply those with jobs in the growing industry.

Social media professional and cannabis PR Alice Moon said LinkedIn is an excellent platform for connecting with industry professionals. “It’s more so for people and not brands, but it is a great place for brands to share their latest press coverage and news,” said Moon.

She also mentioned that although Twitter is a place for welcoming thoughts and opinions of any community, cannabis content is usually followed with flags to “learn more about substance abuse.”
