Cannabis-Infused Sugar: How To Make, Uses, & More

Say goodbye to cannabutter.

Who knew making edibles could be so easy?

You’re probably familiar with the usual cannabutter. Making this infusion is a pretty lengthy process, but we found something much easier.

Enter cannasugar, a.k.a, cannabisinfused sugar. It’s an incredibly straightforward process that doesn’t require a lot of attention.

It does take two and a half hours to make, but you’ll only need to check up on the sugar every 15 to 20 minutes. Plus, it’s a great way to add a cannabis kick to any recipe that calls for granulated sugar.

How To Make Cannabis-Infused Sugar

What You'll Need

  • An oven
  • A baking tray

Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup cannabis tincture of your choice (high THC for a psychoactive kick)

Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 200°F.
  • Evenly spread out your granulated sugar onto a baking tray.
  • Slowly pour your cannabis tincture over the sugar, mixing while pouring. Make sure it’s evenly combined.
  • Place the baking tray inside the oven but DO NOT CLOSE THE DOOR ENTIRELY. The sugar needs time to ventilate, so closing the door won’t do any good.
  • Let the sugar sit in the oven for 2 and 1/2 hours, mixing every 15-20 minutes. You’ll know it’s done when the cannasugar looks like regular granulated sugar.
  • WARNING: This mixture needs ventilation and an open window. You don’t want to inhale the fumes from the evaporated alcohol, so make sure your window is open and the oven fan is on.

How To Use Cannabis-Infused Sugar

Using this infused creation is very straightforward. Simply replace it in any recipe that calls for white, granulated sugar.

Below, you’ll find my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. The normal recipe is not cannabisinfused, so we put an easy marijuana spin on the classics you know and love.

And no, it will not change the delicious and sweet flavor whatsoever.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1/4 granulated cannasugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips (milk or dark)

Steps

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Add wet ingredients to one medium mixing bowl. Start with softened butter, cannasugar, brown sugar, then mix.
  • Add egg and vanilla, and mix until evenly distributed.
  • In a separate medium bowl, add dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Add the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, and fold the mixture until blended.
  • Fold in chocolate chips.
  • With wet hands, take a spoonful of the mixture and roll it into a ball, then place onto the prepared baking tray.
  • Put the tray in the oven for 12 minutes or until cookies are puffy, dry, and slightly golden.
  • Let them cool for 5-10 minutes, and be sure to keep them away from non-cannabis users – unless they want to give edibles a shot!
