Ever since gummies hit the mainstream legal market in the U.S. it seems like all other edibles have been set aside. It’s like everybody forgot about brownies, cookies, and other baked goods, and decided to go with the chewy, fruity, bite-size pieces of heaven that are gummies.
First, it started with gummy bears. But the hit was so great that things quickly evolved something more than just bears.
Soon after we started seeing gummy worms of all flavors, gummy doughnuts in any color you can think of, and other fruity infusions like Chamoy rings that kept us, edible consumers, guessing what was next.
It seems like today the gummy is the go-to edible for many cannabis consumers around the world. But what is it that makes a gummy different from the rest?
In other words:
What is it that makes a certain gummy stand out from the crowd of gummies in all sizes, flavors, and colors?
Unfortunately, there isn’t a Google Scholar article on what makes a cannabis-infused gummy special. As you would expect, it’s a very subjective topic that’s subject to many personal appreciations.
You could probably base yourself on market research that tells you the type of gummy and gummy flavor most sold in the U.S. That would give you a pretty solid idea of what a good gummy is and what most consumers look for in one.
But it wouldn’t give you what makes a gummy unique or the things you should be on the lookout for when shopping for a cannabis-infused gummy.
We’ll look at two main things: the features we consider unique in gummy products we work with or those that we’ve seen on the market. The second is the must-haves for any gummy product.
There are many things companies can do to make their cannabis-infused gummies unique. We are particularly fans of gummies with sweet & sour flavor combinations but that hardly makes it a unique gummy.
Perhaps the most unique flavor we’ve ever encountered is the Chamoy-flavored gummy. But like it, there are 100s of innovative flavors to explore. It’s up to you where you choose to go with your flavor-hunting.
One of the most unique things we’ve seen lately is CLSICS’ rosin-infused cannabis gummy. Made from a naturally extracted concentrate that is made using nothing but pressure and heat. CLSICS live rosin is particularly unique as a concentrate alone because of how potent and pure it is.
We could go on and on about things brands can do to make their gummies unique, but we’d just be trying to come up with new products. At the end of the day, the best thing you can do is look for gummy brands like CLSICS that are trying to do things differently.
As you would with any other cannabis-derived product, regardless of whether it’s an edible or not, you want to look for aspects that ensure safety quality, and reliability. Some common things that most frequent cannabis consumers look for are accurate dosing, freshness, flavor, onset, effect duration, and reliable product testing.
Of course, accurate dosing is something you will only be able to tell for yourself once you’ve tried the product and the effects are of the potency expected. But you could ensure the dosage is accurate even further by purchasing your gummies from a reliable brand/retailer and by inspecting the third-party lab tests provided by the manufacturer.
You’ll want to make sure that the lab tests provided are in fact third-party tests, this ensures absolute unbiased results and gives you’re a greater peace of mind when it comes to your gummies’ safety and quality.
Freshness is something you can check directly on the packaging of your gummies. Your packaging will probably have a date written on it that tells you when the product was packaged. This tells you a lot about your gummies’ freshness.
The flavor is an easy thing to check for because it will probably be the first thing you will notice on your packaging. While this is also something that makes your gummies unique, there might be some flavors that you don’t like, so make sure you’re purchasing a flavor you think you’ll enjoy.
The onset and duration of the effects will depend on how many gummies you consume and the potency of the product you purchase. So make sure you are buying a THC gummy that fits your tolerance to cannabis.
