Your grilling game just got better. Ready to muck some ribs and catch a buzz? This THC BBQ sauce recipe is your secret weapon.
We just discovered a fun way to spice up your summer cookouts—and we’re not talking about seasonings. Well, sort of.
Ever thought about making your own homemade barbecue sauce? While storebought is reliable, and you may have your favorites (shoutout to Sweet Baby Ray’s), there’s nothing quite like whipping some up from scratch.
The flavors are stronger, the texture is on-point, and you can even add some THC-fun to the mix. That’s our way of doing things, anyway.

Because why not? Cannabis-infused condiments are only becoming more popular, especially in mature and “fancier” weed markets like California. In fact, I stole this recipe from a friend out on the West Coast whose been doing a ton of outdoor cooking lately.
BBQ sauce is partially useful for cannabis infusions. Here’s why:
Plus, edibles usually have a longer-lasting effect than smoking or vaping THC. So, it’s a win-win. You get to whip up a delicious meal and catch a long-lasting buzz in the process.

Before jumping into the BBQ sauce recipe, you’ll need some preparation. Start by making your canna-oil or canna-butter:
1. Decarboxylate your ground flower by baking it at 240°F for 40 minutes on a parchment-lined baking sheet
2. Mix the decarbed cannabis with 1 cup of oil (olive or vegetable work well) in a slow cooker
3. Cook on low for 4-6 hours, stirring occasionally
4. Strain through a cheesecloth to remove flower bits
5. Store in an airtight container
Don’t skip this step! This is the star of the show in your BBQ sauce. Without this cannabis infusion, you’re whipping up a plain (but delicious) BBQ sauce recipe.

1. Get out a medium saucepan and combine all ingredients except the cannabis oil/butter.
2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat and stir it frequently.
3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until it slightly thickens.
4. Remove it from the heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
5. Stir in your cannabis-infused oil and make sure it’s thoroughly mixed in.
6. Serve immediately or let the sauce cool completely before transferring it to an airtight container. It can last a couple of weeks in the fridge.

This mouthwatering sauce offers the perfect mix of sweet, tangy, and smokey flavors without leaning toward an overly weedy taste. Of course, that depends on how much weed you use in your infusion.
