Chance the Rapper will be the next big name to get some TLC from ‘Ye himself.
Chance confirmed on Windy City Live that Kanye West will be producing his seven-track album in Chicago later this month. During the interview, Chance cited West as one of his major influences.
“Kanye West is my first image of a free black man in the industry, and I just always loved him for that,” said Chance. He added how exciting it was that West reached out to him personally to produce his new album in their hometown of Chicago. Last March, Chance donated $1 million to the city’s public schools.
The upcoming album adds another heavy hitter to the albums released through West’s label, G.O.O.D Music, including Pusha T’sDaytona, and Kanye’s latest, Ye. Chance’s 2016 Coloring Book was met with critical acclaim, winning Best Rap Album at the 2017 Grammy Awards.
In a separate interview on Peter Rosenberg’s Out Late, Chance announced he is also working with Childish Gambino on an album. Chance admitted that while the project with Childish has a long way to go, he is excited about the quality of the six tracks produced to date and anticipates a fourteen-track album once complete.
There are currently no release dates for the West or Childish collaborations.
