Watch The Trailer For Jay-Z’s Trayvon Martin Documentary “Rest In Power”
Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story will follow the events that led to George Zimmerman murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and the protests that erupted following the murder trial.

An official trailer release for the Jay-Z produced mini-series Rest In Power: The Trayvon Martin Story. Its production and announcement is made through Paramount Pictures and will air on BET on July 30th.
The series documents the happenings that surrounded the murder of Trayvon Martin that took place in February of 2012. It’s based on the non-fiction book written by Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, the parents of Trayvon Martin. The trailer of Rest in Power documents the preliminary events which lead to Martin’s murder, as well as the repercussions and social reception of the tragedy, which commonly deemed to be one of the most significant events of the last decade. The series trailer grants a brief glimpse into the documentary series, such as footage and evidence that played of great significance in the case.
It also includes exclusive interviews from significant members involved in Trayvon Martin’s death, such as his parents and the Civil Rights Attorney Benjamin Crump.
Rest in Power is set to feature other notable figures, such as former White House advisor Reverend Al Sharpton and Oklahoma Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony.
Trayvon Martin’s murder garnered widespread media coverage and public outrage, leading to the birth of the Black Lives Matter civil rights movement as George Zimmerman, the person convicted for Martin’s death, was acquitted on all related charges.
The trailer for Rest In Power begins with the voice of Trayvon’s father, who makes a call to a 911 dispatcher in which he’s filing a missing person’s report, around the same time his son’s murder.
Trayvon Martin was fatally shot by George Zimmerman while visiting his father in Sanford, Florida. Martin was walking through the gated community, where Zimmerman lived. Zimmerman proceeded to follow him leading to the altercation that resulted in Martin’s death. Trayvon Martin was just 17 years old.
The trailer continues to show footage and montages of protests that erupted in response to the shooting. The release of Rest In Power will also include interviews with prominent figures involved in the case, and videos used as evidence in the case that would eventually become known as one of the greatest injustices of the decade.
Today, Twitter was full of commemorations to Trayvon Martin, many reflecting on a life that was lost too soon.
