Between new albums from Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Drake and many more, summer 2018 is already shaping up to be a pretty busy season as far as blockbuster music releases go. The favorite of stoners everywhere, Wiz Khalifa, is joining the fray with Rolling Papers 2, the follow-up to 2011’s Rolling Papers. The new album is set to drop on July 13.

It would be an understatement to say Rolling Papers 2 is highly anticipated. It’s arriving three years after Wiz first mentioned he was working on it.

Seemingly borrowing from the hilarious sports-themed visual for Kendrick Lamar and TDE’s The Championship tour, Wiz is promoting the album with a video trailer that finds him in a sweaty kickboxing workout while a low-tempo song plays in the background.

Wiz appears to have put some muscle on his skinny frame. The Instagram caption to the clip alludes to his regimen and preparedness.

“Secret footage has been obtained of the chosen one training for the toughest fight of his life. His sharpness, accuracy, and awareness has heightened and will be on full display on July 13th for the legendary Rolling Papers 2.”

The first release from Rolling Papers 2 is “Real Rich,” with an assist from Atlantic Records labelmate Gucci Mane. Intended as a preview, the bouncy trap cut, produced by Tay Keith, clocks in just over 2 minutes. There’s no shortage of braggadocio in Wiz’ raps: “Ridin around blow so much dope/But I’m always handling business/Way too high don’t pick up my phone/If I do, I’m like, ‘who is this?’/Ain’t got time for a girlfriend, telling that bitch I ain’t got no feelings/Young nigga straight from the bottom now my car ain’t got no ceilings.”

While fans wait for the official album cover and tracklist, Rae Sremmurd’s Swae Lee baited Wiz into sharing with the public about their collaboration. Lee’s reply to Wiz’ video clip—“Bruh you will sleep a nigga then drop a fire ass song”—prompted Wiz to reply with: “can’t wait to drop the one we got.” Producer TM88 and Wiz previously confirmed they’ve recorded a lot of new music for Rolling Papers 2.

Rolling Papers, the first album, was the breakthrough major label debut from Wiz. It came on the heels of the Kush & Orange Juice mixtape that catapulted the Pittsburgh native back into the spotlight after a failed deal with Warner Brothers Records. Also, the sequel will be Wiz’s first album in four years. He released two EPs last year—Pre-Rolleds and Bong Rips—and appeared on Damian Marley’s “Medication (Remix)” with Ty Dolla Sign.

With new albums usually comes touring and Wiz Khalifa is soon hitting the road to promote Rolling Papers 2. Following several festivals dates in the U.S., the Taylor Gang chief will head to Europe, with festival dates scheduled in the Czech Republic, Denmark, Switzerland, Belgium and Turkey.
