HBO Announces ‘The Shop’ Starring NBA Legend LeBron James
The Shop will feature James and celebrity guests talking about everything from life to politics in barbershops across the country.
HBO has officially announced the release of a television series called The Shop, starring basketball legend LeBron James.
The unscripted program documents conversations between James and a curated panel of guests, who converse on topics involving business, music, pop culture, sports, world events, and politics in different barbershops across the United States.
The program is the brainchild of the NBA star and his business partner, Maverick Carter, who own a media production company that worked with HBO to create the series. The duo, who owns a production company called Uninterrupted, partnered with HBO to bring the series to life.
In a new trailer from HBO, a preview for The Shop offers a glimpse into what viewers can expect from a typical episode. The preview features James in conversation with the program’s guests about his career, mother, and family.
Guests included in the preview include rapper and cannabis enthusiast Snoop Dogg, wide-receiver for the New York Giants Odell Beckham Jr., New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara, Golden State Warrior Draymond Green, WNBA star Candace Parker, and former host of The Daily Show Jon Stewart.
On HBO’s website, James explains that inspiration for the program grew from his personal experiences in barbershops.
“The Shop is exactly why we created Uninterrupted,” explains James in a press release for The Shop. “Anyone who has been in a real barbershop, like the ones where I grew up, knows why this show can be so incredible. I’m really excited HBO believed in our idea and is helping us create something special.”
