If you’ve learned anything from your days of consuming cannabis, especially edibles, you’re aware that edibles can be a dangerous game if you don’t take your time to feel the full effect. Switching gears, when it comes to queso, you want to eat it all while it’s hot and ready or before the chips run out.

Thanks to journalist Taylor Prewitt at Texas Monthly, she took it upon herself (and her roommate Jesse) to create a dish that was initially meant to debut as a limited-edition special on Trudy’s menu. According to Earlybird CMO Erik Culver, the dish was postponed due to Trudy’s legal team wanting “some more time to review the liability.”

Disappointed and probably hungry, Prewitt realized that she doesn’t have to abide by legal advisers and decided to make this delicious and relaxation-inducing queso recipe from the comfort of her own home. We’re more than grateful she shared it with the public because we know how diverse a stoner’s palette can be, and there’s no better way to satisfy that than with this savory queso recipe that won’t get you stoned like a regular edible, so eat as much as you want.

CBD Queso Ingredients

The ingredients listed below serve two but feel free to modify it to how many people you’re serving or simply if you want a little more.

  • 8-ounce block of queso
  • 1 ⅖ cups of milk, or slightly less for a thicker queso
  • ½ jalapeño, diced
  • ½ tablespoon of garlic powder
  • ½ tablespoon of onion powder
  • 1 bag of your preferred tortilla chips
  • 2 milliliters of full-spectrum CBD oil (comes with 0.3% THC for an added boost)
  • If you don’t want that extra THC boost, opt for either a CBD isolate or broad-spectrum CBD tincture.

  1. Shred or cube your 8 ounces of blocked of queso to your desire.
  2. Next, pour the milk into a large saucepan and heat it up. Bring the milk to a slight simmer and add the shredded or cubbed queso.
  3. You want to whisk the mixture frequently to make sure it doesn’t stick or burn at the bottom of the pan.
  4. Once the cheese is fully melted into the simmering milk and the mixture is one single consistency, throw in the diced jalapeño, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  5. Once everything is mixed well, allow the mixture to cool. Once it cools down a bit and isn’t scorching hot, add in the 2 ml of your preferred CBD oil.
  6. After it’s cooled down enough to eat, grab your favorite tortilla chips and get to munching!
